Met Ernie Curties on a few occasions when he was still with us he used to live in Hamilton Street in Canton ,M yelder brother and a few of his mates asked him one day if he would show them his F A cup winners medal and he had the curtesy to walk back to his home(they were on the outskirts of the City centre at the time)to show them it and chatted for a little while about the final.

Met a great gentleman back in the eighties who was a reserve or standby. Didn't travel with the team, different era, I think from memory only 12 or 14 players actually travelled up to Wembley. I cannot for the life of me remember his name but went on play a good few games for Cardiff. Total gent and an honour to meet him. What really struck me was the respect that he still had for Fred Keenor after nay on seventy years. I'm not going to divulge what was said but Mr Keenor's memory deserves more than a statue.

Ernie was old school a throw back to the days when players never earned a fortune and walked to the ground to play amongst the fans you could see he was dead proud and rightly use to love the attention in his latter years .
