I blame the supermarkets, in particular Tesco.

unfortunately 'out of the recession' only means that the economy is no longer shrinking. However, it has shrunk so much in real terms over the last 4 years that it will take an age to get back we were.

I do all my shopping online, and if its cheaper elsewhere then people will go elsewhere.
In years to come there won't be any electrical retailers with stores.

I work in the Newport road branch, turned up yesterday for work and found out about the administration whilst driving in! Arrived to find baillifs outside and security guards on the inside, dyson removing all their stock, phoning my mate with a van to do outstanding deliveries! all staff stunned and worried it was not great, then came the customers like vultures circling for closing down bargains, cancelling orders and kicking off about their warranties. My colleague lost it after one customer was wingeing about his blender not being ordered, "it's a blender, get another one, can I get another job!" Awful day. We are all in the dark, administrators will tell us more on Tuesday hopefully we can do a peacocks and come out of it with mininum store closures, thankfully I am in the busiest welsh store, very worrying with a pregnant wife at home! Maybe Vincent tan can help us out, I'll wear red shirts for that!!!

Hope it all works out for you mate. There will be closures but its still a fairly big brand so likely that someone will do a deal with the administrators - usually at the 11th hour to squeeze out the best deal. And as you say, your in one of the busier branches so more likely to be one of the stores to remain if someone steps in.

LOL

More people for the dole, sucks but at times like this you would think the goverment wouldnt want 6.5k staff out there in limbo and will do something fund wise that would work out cheaper than whatever it is on the dole. :ayatollah:

Well, I'm hoping for large scale discounts to be made in every Comet store next week and hopefully I can get the new Fridge and microwave my missus has been asking for before Xmas.

Yes, there is obviously a level of selfishness on my behalf but, who wouldn't want better value goods? Also, a boom in Sales revenue, regardless that profit margin will be lower, can only be a good thing for all of the Comet employees.

This is just what all hard up people need before Xmas, to be able to buy decent gear at decent prices. Let's face it, if they were selling at the right prices in the first place then the business wouldn't be in such a bad shape.
