CCFC Player Of The Year Awards In Chicago in 1988

Wed Oct 31, 2012 7:01 pm

The Cardiff nightclub, not the city in the U.S.A. It was on the corner of the Wyndham Arcade and St Mary Street and later became the Taurus Steakhouse and is now Kiwis.

Good times for CCFC in 1988. We'd been promoted and won the Welsh Cup, so we were going to Europe.

The first photo is of Mark Kelly, who won the Young Player Of The Year Award:

The second photo is of Mike Ford, who won the Most Improved Player Of The Year Award. I don't know why I got my girlfriend to stand with him:

The third photo is of Nicky Platnauer and Mike Ford with their partners. I think Nicky won the Player Of The Year Award but maybe a statto can put me right on that:

I was there that night, also I got Mark Kelly's top of him on the pitch the day we got relegated at Bury.

Cheers, Lee. I've been looking for these for a while and went through a suitcase full of old photos from my attic and still couldn't find them. Turned up some gems, though.

I found these in an envelope with some Burnley away photos from the same year - in my sock drawer!
