This whole 4-5-1 away thing...

Mon Oct 29, 2012 6:01 pm

I know no one likes it, but come saturday, and when that is how we line up (because we all know we will) we should get behind the side not get on their backs should we not be leading at half time.

as for our away games....
NORTHAMPTON TOWN [CAPITAL ONE CUP] (L2-1) - Wasn't present at this game so i can't really say a lot about it, but from what it seemed to most of us listening on the radio that we should have won the game.... new players and a lot of fringe or younger players given a chance or not, a championship side should not be losing a game where they led league 2 opposition.

BRISTOL CITY (L 4-2) - I don't know what to think about this game. it was a game that we should never have lost on paper, we looked like a team that had never played together before, but it was only the second game of the season and a lot of the players were still settling in. not saying thats an excuse, we still shouldn't be getting spanked by 23rd in the league when we are going for promotion...

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION (D 0-0) The only game where Velikonja has had a proper run out, we missed 3 or 4 sitters and should have taken the points to be honest, but they also missed a few sitters and Craig Noone ripped us to shreds down our left hand side. (no wonder Malky tried so hard to get him and why they held out until after they had played against us) all in all, we should have won the game on clear cut chances but on play a draw was about right.

MILLWALL (W 0-2) One of the few away games where i feel that we were in total control for the second half, after we went 1-0 up Millwall never really looked like getting a goal back apart from the odd attack or two, which is how a team at the top of the league should be.

CRYSTAL PALACE (L 3-2) Don't know what to say about this, second half self destruction. 2-0 up and lost the game, against a side which look like they are in this promotion push for the long haul, we didn't know at the time what a force they we're going to be so far this season, but no matter who you're playing, you should see out a 2-0 lead.

IPSWICH TOWN (W1-2) Thought for the majority of the game we were awful but went on the grab 3 points, but really struggled against a side who are my favourites to go down, a big sign that the formation isn't working but we got lucky and come away with what could turn out to be 3 huge points.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST (L3-1) punished by a free kick that was never really a free kick IMO as it was a 50:50 ball from what i could see of it, we sat back and got punished a minute later and after no team really asserting the issue in the game we found ourselves 2-0 down, conceding a third just after half time killed us but after we pulled a goal back we had enough chances to win the game but it all came too late. that last 15-20 minutes is how we should play as a team at the top of the league for more of the games away from home.

We all know that the formation isn't working, and i don't like it either, but we just need to get behind the boys, and if they can carry on pulling results at home and start sneaking wins on the road or even draws on the road even if we don't deserve them then we wont be far off this season. lets get behind the lads on saturday and tuesday and go and get 6 points on the road to promotion! ;) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
