Gestede was brilliant today

Sat Oct 27, 2012 7:08 pm

Minimal game time = 2 goals today
Ipswich = 2 goals and changed game
Forest = changed the game, we scored.
Watford = his sheer threat meant concentration on Rudy = gunnarson clear header

IMO he's far more of a threat than Helguson, in general his aerial ability was immense and that showed with his fantastic assist today. He's pacy and not too bad on the ball. His technical long-shot vs Leicester in extra time got us to Wembley let's not forget. He just needs game time, getting better and better and will learn from his mistakes.

His sheer threat works like a brilliant decoy e.e again Connelly's goal, deserves more credit. Worked hard and is very useful in defence for instance when he tackled the Watford dude in the last minute and obviously due to his height on the near post.

Well done Rudy, hope you gain some confidence, far more athletic and aerial threat than Helguson I think. If Gestede had misplaced some of Helguson's passes today hell would unleash on here.

He cant pass or run with the ball at his feet - but he does hold the ball up and win headers occasionally and won a fair few today

Hes just another option off the bench, nothing else :ayatollah:

youll probably get loads of stick on here for this post but very good points made actually
no one can deny rudy causes absolute havoc when he comes on,he nearly broke his own neck by mistiming a header though
definetly a valubale squad member

Re: Gestede was brilliant today

Sat Oct 27, 2012 7:12 pm

he lost the ball badly once. true, whittingham lost the ball a couple of times too, so what? its going to happen

Gestede looked good to me, lively, won a bit in the air, did well with his back to goal and got a good assist.

Re: Gestede was brilliant today

hes shit!

its the fact hes so shit makes him useful!

He has no idea what hes doing and neither do the opposition!

So let me get this rite hes a pro footballer who can not pass or run with the ball but he can head it so its all good, i can pass the ball but carnt run as im to fat or win headers so one out of three aint bad can i be a pro footballer to  :ayatollah:

Re: Gestede was brilliant today

So he heads one or two balls and he's rated as brilliant? Ffs he's awful. All he can do is jump, and when he does head the ball, 80% of the time it goes nowhere. He headed the ball down to Gunnarsson well to be fair to him but no one who watches Cardiff can seriously rate him as a good Championship player.

Re: Gestede was brilliant today

Sat Oct 27, 2012 7:16 pm

He has a heavier touch than Jimmy Saville

The amount of balls he lost when he was in good position due to poor touch or passes was shocking. And the free header he had he should have absolutely buried. If Helguson had been in his position we'd have been 5 up.

All those saying he ties up the defence that's true for the time being. But as he plays more and more often they'll stop bother to mark him as its so rare he does anything with the ball.

Fact is he was better than Helguson today. And he can pass if you looked goal kicks were aimed at Marshall Gestede was at ease instead of heading and hoping he chested it down layed it off and brought others into play before posititoning himself in the box.

Im just stating that the fact he's tall makes him a option as an Arial threat

For some reason, i remember when Kenny Daglish got interviewd before the CC final and he said our main threat would be 'that tall boy up front, whats his name gestede' - quality scouts they have up there fair play

Re: Gestede was brilliant today

After a season and a quarter I still can't work him out. All I know is if Rudy had missed the chances Helgusson missed today there would be uproar.

HH tried to lay off a few time today but not as perfect as for gunnar goal.

He isn't very good but he is a handful for defenders.

It amazes me that he can't judge the flight of the ball.

Yes hes ok in the air but thats about it, he is 6ft 5 after all or something like that, i just can not see how you say hes brilliant today its nearly as bad as that tw*t james barnett claming don cowie is now a world class player and always has been :ayatollah:

The way he perfectly times his jump to just miss it every time is a work of art.

What have you been smoking. Every single ball hoofed up to him today he headed to a player in red. Also got us an assist later on ffs.

Why do people hate him, very curuious.he's certainly no lump did you see his pace and agility today?

Interesting how people who know football and the game appreciate his talent and dullards who just want the 30 goal a season strikers at the club or out hate him.

Ridiculous. Boy deserves credit end of, he's PROVED every time he's come on he'c caused havoc and we HAVE SCORED from it. This is why Malky uses him so often. He's proven, he works.

Your posts on this forum prove to me you know nothing about the game and it's many varieties. Shut up. The last few games he has been one of the most effective players in the team NO DOUBT.

He gets unfairly criticized, yes he's not the best on the ball I've seen far worse mind. But he brings a very very effective threat, which has got us some points already this season by creating and being there .

He lost it more than twice. He had that good run where he kicked the ball six yards in front of him every time so their defence had time to get back in position to take ball off him. Then he laid the ball off to their defender instead of giving it to another player. Then there was two or three headers he won that he just knocked down into dead space and that's ignoring the headers he completely mistimed so they flew over him.

You don't need to be a football genius to know that he's crap. One of the most effective players my arse. He's a donkey and you know it, the reason you're bigging him up is because he's crap and one good little thing he does is considered as amazing because he's Rudy Gestede. I love the guy but this is the truth.

Some people of this board amaze me. Copies had a couple of games so its Rudys turn.

He's not Messi but Malky put him on to do exactly what he did for Gunnarsson's goal. Well done again to the kid

THE STATS DON'T LIE.

When he comes on:

Ipswich = changed game and 2 goals for city
Forest = changed game and 1 goal for City, Camp making a worldie save to deny him
TODAY = 2 goals in minimal time
WATFORD = 2 goals, both in and around the box aimed at him

His threat makes space for others. Far far better than Helguson, I'd certainly want him ahead of him. He's far quicker than a donkey by the way :D

Exactly, he does his job very well in fairness.

On this board especially seems to be the main critizm, most others who actually watch the game instead of spitting at opposition players/fans understand him and his use.

Wish city could have more fans who actually understand football.

Re: Gestede was brilliant today

I've got no problem with him, as I've said before he does the job for city when he plays and he's a good squad player. :ayatollah:

Re: Gestede was brilliant today

Thought he did ok today, pleased with his assist, would have liked for him to get a goal.

He linked up play well a few times, his run and loss of possession were a bit Rudy like  , but Malky seems to like the fact that he's just so different, he's awkward looking, very unlike a footballer and for that reason alone probably difficult to play against.

He's not going to get us promoted but the fact he's like no other is likely to mean he'll come up with the odd nuggett. :ayatollah:

He was in the French lower leagues for a reason.
Helguson scored the two goals at Ipswich, both moves didn't involve Rudy.
Helguson again scored the goal against Forest.
He offered nothing at the Watford game.
He assisted Gunnarsson today which is the only good point you're trying to get across.

He's considered a threat because he's lanky. He can jump but he needs to work on his headers. The fact that you think he's better than Helguson says it all, Helguson is far better at winning balls and heading for that matter. I'd actually doubt that he's quicker than a donkey.

He's crap. He'd be an average League One player. I support him on the field but everyone knows I'm right.

Rudy is an option because of his height, no more than that.

He has a touch like 'Thing' off the Fantastic Four, which is why I dont see him
progressing. Touch is something you either have or you don't. Earnie's first touch
was always hit and miss and it stopped him being a success in the Premiership.

He did ok when he came on at Ipswich, but did not have a hand in either goal.

Your argument goes potty when you say he's better than Helgusson

I think you ARE Rudy, and are using Google translate
