Zabier wrote:Carl, the alcohol argument is an interesting one. I think not being able to drink in the stands encourages some people to hit the booze hard before games to carry them through. Some tool was sick on my shoes the other week and he was carried out of the Canton Stand having practically passed out. If fans were allowed to drink in their seats then it would perhaps lead to people spreading their intake over the day/ game.
I am a big fan of having safe standing in the Canton Stand but also having alcohol being drunk in seats in all areas of the ground except for the Family Stand. I think a trial period would be the best way to do it. If it doesn't work then fair enough but if it does it could revolutionise football in this country.
I am slightly concerned that the idiotic minority would still have a big negative influence but we can only give it a try and see what happens.

Never once had a problem on the bob bank of finding a space and it was so much easier to navigate and get near your mates to watch a game. Its not hard ask to ask someone to budge up a bit so you can get in by your mates and watch the game either, just a bit of communication with fellow City fans. It was a good way to get talking to other people as well which I believe increase the atmosphere as friends were together then groups would get larger and expand etc.![]()

The club are going to eventually change the seats to red so they may as well introduce safe standing at the same time.

I see there have been a few clubs interested in trialling the safe standing with Hull, Villa and Peterborough amongst those teams.
I have read a few comments from our supporters saying we should introduce safe standing also but firstly I think it is important to realise that clubs like Hull are not looking to take seats out of their stadium but to allow standing in a designated area of the all seater ground and not in every stand.
With regards to our club we already have an area where supporters can stand and that is in the Canton Stand, working closely with the Safety Advisory Group, our club have managed to do this since the opening of CCS.
Do fans want a terrace reintroduced, which personally I don't think will happen or do they want the option to stand ?
I like the idea of safe standing but whilst maintaining the seat as it gives you 'personal space'.
For myself, I choose to sit in the Family Stand because of my daughter safety and needs but if I wanted to stand then I would go to the Canton Stand but in truth I have come accustomed to sitting at home games, whether that was at Ninian Park or now at the CCS but at away grounds I do stand.
So if supporters safe standing was introduced as law, what area of our ground would you want to be the designated stand/area for it?
Again on personal level, I would much prefer to see a return to drinking alcohol whilst watching the game whether that be home or away. It is crazy that a stadium can be used for many events whether it be Rugby, Speedway, pop concerts and you can drink whilst watching the action but when it is football you cannot.
If you are in a hospitality suite then you can drink beer whilst the game is on but must close the blinds so you cannot see the action but able to watch the game on a screen, how ridiculous is that?

Since all seater stadium have been introduced exactly how many football fans have died at football grounds as a result of over-crowdingNone. History has shown that traditional terrace areas are dangerous and removing them has been the single most important step in ensuring the safety of fans at sports grounds. Health & Safety gone mad my arse.
All seater stadium was a recommendation of the Taylor Report into the Hillsborough Disaster where the main contributing factors were lack of crowd control, severe congestion and we now know a stadium operating without a safety certificate.
Safe standing areas, as suggested by the FSF, are a very positive was of reintroducing terracing into football stadiums without ever have the risk of innocent people being killed.

Carl, seriously have you ever stood on a terrace pre 2005 or are you one of these nauseating fuckwits who inhabit Soccer AM?
Laughable quote there Mr. Super City.
Please don't attempt to speak for me.
