TURNER ON WALES REJECTION

Say's he turned us down not to 'kid' anyone that he was Welsh when he wasn't.

Cardiff City defender Ben Turner has admitted he rejected the chance to play international football for Wales as he did not want to "kid" anyone.
Turner qualifies for Wales through his Welsh grandmother and Wales boss Chris Coleman instructed scouts to watch the ex-England Under-19 centre-back play.
But he rejected a change of allegiance because Turner did not want to 'pretend to be a Welshman when he was not.'
"I'm English," the Birmingham-born player told BBC Sport.
"And that's just how it is.

If everyone had to play for the closest Football League club to where they were born, Cardiff would have a pretty decent team.
Bale, Giggs, Bellamy, Ramsey etc.

Got to say big respect to him, he's being true to himself rather than just taking any opportunity he can to play international football. I'd do the same in his position - my Dad's english but I'd never play for them.

Not forgetting Steve Morison!

Turners interview with Radio Wales was spot on. He basically said "I'm not Welsh and it's not fair that i would take the place of someone who has always dreamed of playing for their country". In other words fork off Williams and Morison.

I respect Turners decision, but do not understand why we are not accepting those that HAVE chosen to play for us.

If the rule is that grand parents make you eligible then you should be allowed to use it.

Turner can say he is English all he wants but he is 25% Welsh and even playing at 25 % his ability that's better than a 100% of some of our squad.

What a top lad. You cant not fully respect the man after that, true to himself and the fans.

Ashley Williams on the other hand.....

Still can't believe Coleman has made him captain.

If it isn't in the heart then fair play to him. I have Welsh parentage and was born in England , but I was bought up the Welsh way . It's in the heart and soul.

English b*stard! My older 2 boys born in ingerlund regard themselves as welsh. The eldest's nickname at school is sheepshagger due to how proud he is of being CCFC.

I know how you feel I lived in England for a couple of years when I was young and have been living in Southampton the last few years through Uni and it made me realise how much I love Wales. And I dont know if its me but the Welsh seem more patriotic compared to the English

Why should he take 2nd best?

It's an insult to his ability and future.
