Just got back from the game.

I see the negative people are out in force. I also see those who moan about the negative people are also out in force. Well bollocks too the both of you because this is the reality of it so pay attention and read very carefully.

Our away approach is going to either make or break us. The last 2 away games we have played 20 minutes of football, the last 20 minutes. We got away with it at Ipswich, a poor team, but we never looked like getting anything at Forest, an average team. If we are to maintain our challenge we need to turn that 20 minutes into 70 when we are on the road. If we don't do that we are going to miss out.

Today was the first time I have heard "Malky sort it out". About says it all really.

So you agree its always the last twenty mins we start playing after MM makes the 4-4-2 changes even 3-4-3 they said we changed to the last ten mins, why is this then, yet we always revert back to 4-5-1 the very next away game and the its the same thing we wait till the last 20mins ish to try chase a game. I've seen it before and many other times since xmas but only when we been 1-0 down or 2-1 down but we was 3-0 down by the 50th minute and waited untill 70mins before anything i mean what does that tell fans because we sounded once again the better in side the last 20mins after the changes, yet we know whats going to happen the next away game. :ayatollah:

To me it seems that when we go 4-5-1 away we give the initiative to the home side and are made to look ordinary. I really do believe we are capable of taking the game to our opponents away and should start with 4-4-2.

I agree ian but its been the same since xmas we try change games in the last 15-20 minutes if we are behind only then MM changes the formation away from home and then we look the better side getting chances off at goal, but today we was well behind and he changed it way to late if you ask me. I would rather go down 3-2 having a go playing 4-4-2 than lose 3-0 sitting on are box hoofing it playing 4-5-1 :ayatollah:

Today was a disaster regarding changing things around. It was a bit like sliding down a slippery hill, you get so far down you dont have the energy to get back up. MM made changes just after Forest did the ole ole ole on us. We had gone so far behind in the game we were nevergoing to get back into it. The changes we made were a damage limitation act.

The more I look at todays game the more I feel we should go for it from the start.

with the team we have 4-5-1 aint our best formation, the sooner malky works this out the better for us

Personally I don't think he will change this formation on the road. It is very clear he has a defence policy away. This might suit us fine if say we were in the premier where we would need to be a bit more cautious until we have built a better quality squad to challenge. However we are in the Championship with a squad that is quality at this level. I believe with that we should be more proactive on the road but Malky doesn't.

agree with you, yes .this is a tactic man ure would use going to barca. but not away to southampton. i feel we are good enough to play attacking football against any team in this division.

At the end of the season Malky will be judged on whether or not we get promoted, possibly his job may be on the line, so if he feels 451 is the way to go when playing away then be it on his head if a poor away record means we fail to go up again. Personally I don't think he's daft enough to keep persevering with the system if it continues to be our undoing at away games..time will tell.

I now see why he uses Don Cowie.. he likes being extra defensive about away games.. Malkys approach is poor on away games.. If we had Maynard I doubt we would be playing that formation.

some really good points here...

4-5-1 is ok to start with away from home if you have the right personnel to play it. yesterday we didnt.. our midfield quartet yesterday consisted of the same 4 who struggled last yr. whitts, gunnarsson, cowie, conway. with smith then instead of lawrence.

if we had had noone and bellamy on the field from the start i believe it would have been a totally different game.

however we are performing really well at home with 442 and beating quality teams, we should try this away from home and go at teams from the start rather than the last 20 mins.. its a very dangerous game to play but at home we have beaten brum, leeds, blackpool, huddersfield and wolves but away we have lost games we really should be looking at getting at least a draw from, we have only taken 7 points from a possible 18 on the road and we havnt been away to anybody yet than i really see challenging for promotion.
