Some people saying we need a target man but is there any decent target men anymore? Seems to be a dying art really I can't think of many around

We had that striker - Maynard but we know what has happened to him :(

People say we have the best squad - Do we ?? - Yes the best midfielders you could ask for...but up front and defence ??

As for strikers ( imo ) Nottm Forest have the best pair in this league in Cox and Sharpe.

As soon as Maynard got injured MM should of got a replacement on loan, this team needed a striker so MM bought Maynard, so now he is out for the season, we still need that striker.

We don't need a striker, we just need to get the team selection and formation right. At home we play 4-4-2, with Whitts playing further forward and we seem to be direct and take the game to teams. It also supports Helguson up front, who works tirelessly but needs someone to support him. Away from home we seem to have adopted a 4-5-1 approach, which for someone reason makes us sit back and not really threaten teams. Why can't we play the same formation home and away?

Also team selection, why drop Noone, who offers a real threat with pace? Again I think Malky tinkers too much with team selection from home to away games and shouldn't change what is clearly working in home games.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Helguson score yesterday and didn't he score 2 at Ipswich the game before? Helguson's all round game is superb, so I think he's more than good enough, but I don't think Rudy is the answer and we need another target man brought in so Rudy can go out on loan to a League 1/2 team, it's the only way he will improve.

Our problem as usual is we concede too many soft goals. However good we are at home, the number of goals we are conceding away is not good enough. I would play Connolly full back and bring Turner back into the middle. Taylor and McNaughton will have good games but also have too many poor games. Taylor isn't consistantly good enough defensively and McNaughton usually gives away possession cheaply. I believe we should play a back 4 that's solid and can actually defend, we will always have enough going forwards to score goals.

Spoke to somebody who is involved in the club set up recently, who was surprisingly honest in his view of the players in training. In his experience, which he has a lot of, Nooney is outstanding, and an absolute steal at what we paid for him, as is Bellamy (which we all know) but was scathing about Velikonja and him coming back from international duty overweight, which staggered me in this modern game. He went on to say that they have had external coaches coming in to do speed work, and that Rudy is incredibly unco-ordinated and his running style and movement is having to be dismantled and rebuilt. At 24 this is going to prove difficult in the least. He told me that Velikonja has looked disappointing in training, and the overweight business speaks volumes. He didn't even mention Conway.
