STRIKER David Goodwillie has cut short his loan spell with Crystal Palace and returned to parent club Blackburn Rovers, according to Eagles assistant manager Lennie Lawrence.

The 23-year-old was brought in by manager Dougie Freedman to boost his firepower on transfer deadline day on August 31 until January next year.

However, he appeared just once from the bench after 63 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday just 24 hours later.

And due to the good form of Glenn Murray, it made it even more difficult for the former Dundee United man to settle and break into the starting XI.

"David Goodwillie has agreed to go back to Blackburn Rovers as he's struggled to settle in London", Lawrence told Advertiser Sport on Tuesday afternoon.

"It was in everybody's interests that he went back, so that's happened.

"He just couldn't settle and it's one of those things."
