I've worked in the sudio industry fpor the past 30 years (both Pro and consumer) and have to say that you are paying for the name if you buy these h/phones. The Dre endorsement is a cool piece of marketing but does not make the phones sound better honestly!
In my experience the best sounding cans for the money are made by companies such as AKG and Sennheiser. AKG particularly are not a well known brand commercially but sound amazing for the money - I have 2 pairs and would recommend them thoroughly.

If your gonna spend good money on headphones then theres only one make worth spending big on and thats Bose, I have a set of acoustic silencers and theres nothing that will touch them

Very true! Compressed audio such as MP3 does not demand the most faithful reproduction. However if your listening to 24bit stuff or even uncompressed files such as WAV's then it's worth getting something of a better quality (providing your not listening to dub step!)

Agree with this fella, don't waste your money, as your only paying for his name. I used to dj on Bass fm and up the knap ect back in the day, and if they were out then i'd give them a miss, if your going to spend that much, then get onto a dj equipment website/shop and buy a decent set, i've got a pair Sennheiser can't fault them, they do the job perfect.

I bought a pair of these Sony's when they were on offer at £16! Best over head ones for the value for money I ever had! and they are light and comfortable! Have worn them running a few times, but now prefer my atomic floyd in ear pods now for running.

It depends which pair of Beats you actually buy.
I personally think they look cheap and nasty.
I'm a Bose man myself.

Depends what you want from them mate, if your just into listening there are ones a lot cheaper on the market that are near as good but if you are making or mixing music the beats are really good, get the full frequency spectrum on them so you don't lose the low end like in most headphones and the sound clarity is amazing, I use them to mix and they are so true that i very rarely have to go back into a mix and edit it once I've mixedon the beats, hope this helps mate

they're great, worth it! but sadly i left my £130 pair on the train the other day..

and being from Rhondda there's no chance they're getting handed in! you'll just seen some chav wearing umbro trackies, fila shoes, lonsdale tshirt, riding a stolen bmx around dinas flats with a flash pair of beats on his head!
