This squad is now good enough/capable of going up this season?
First of all, I 100% believe Malky is the right man as long as he gets the backing/money,thats been promised to him, I believe he needs in January to cover any positions Malky might feel we may be weak on on.
Personally I believe we need a target man.
Do you believe we are good enough to go up?
Are you happy if we dont strengthen?
Do we need to strengthen?
If so what positions?

I'd like to see regular (fortnightly?) games to keep the bench match fit.
It's very strong squad as long as Malky doesn't lose the plot again with 4-5-1

We definately need cover for left and right back and also a tarket man.

We will definitely go up (mind you I have said that every season since 2003). We have lost Maynard for the season so there might be a case for bringing in another striker if needed. That said ATM I would say we don't need to strengthen so I am happy to go with what we have got and look at it again in January, when we might need some cover in defence and attack.

With Whitts, Noone, Bellamy and Conway in the attacking area we are always going to be a threat.
We maybe lack two defenders, another striker targetman/lone striker (poor Maynard

) and another Centre-Mid if Malky doesn't rate Kiss.
But the squad is very good for up to Jan.

Id imagine we ll need reinforcements in january the likes of wolves, brighton, blackpool, leicester and leeds will definetly strenghten their squads then
Malky perhaps needs to be less fussy with who he brings in as there will be big competiton from the other leading teams to bring in the best available players, loans from the prem especially
the current squad we have is defiently good enough to maintain a top 2 position up until jan

Deffo good enuff to go up, quality, strength and depth.
Think we are better than Saints and Reading were last season but its a tougher league I believe this term.
Strengthen upfront with Nicky out all season.
Be disappointed if we didn't strengthen tbh

We have a great squad and I dont think we need to buy in January to go up. Saying that it never hurts bringing in a fresh face as long as its the right player for the right price!

Yes defo good enough to go up, need cover for left and right back and i beileve if malky rotates enough and use conway kimbo and etien more it will be a added boost

Our current squad is good enough to last us to January and keep us high in the table. We need 2 defenders and a striker
Sun Oct 14, 2012 1:53 pm
Unfortunately, due to the injury to Maynard I believe we need to spend in January on a striker. If that happens I think we'll go up.
Sun Oct 14, 2012 2:01 pm
i believe well be seeing a lot more of etien and kim after january

We definitely need cover at full back. Taylor and Naughts are 2 110%ers who have superb attitude. However I do feel that they are the 2 weakest players in our team. Naughts' distribution lets him down at times and Taylor struggles against pace.
I would like to see another striker as well if Velikonja is not upto the job.

I think the squad as it stands with Maynard injured IS good enough to go up, and well capable!!!
But I also believe with one or two new faces January we could destroy this division, i really do.
Forgetting love Tan/hate Tan.... he wont take any chances this time. Malky will spend.
However, if the Bluebird is gone from our badge, and no longer our nickname any more
I will not care a flying f**k about the Premiership next season and will concentrate on
boxing as my favourite sport. Football will be dead to me

See where we are come jan i would say then spend the other 5million we are supposed to have left on the playing transfer budget, get 2-3 in i think in jan we got a chance, hopefully we keep injury free or it could stop us before jan tbh as the squads smaller than last season but better quality as i type this
Sun Oct 14, 2012 6:33 pm
Annis i 100% agree with your comments , but do you think Malky will go with Gestede as the target man now he's fit again ?
Sun Oct 14, 2012 6:45 pm
I think what we've got is good enough to keep us top 6 but not quite top two. I think we need somebody similar to Maynard who will get us maybe 15-20 goals, Helguson will be good with another striker along side him, Rudy proved a foil against Ipswich but he's not likely to get many goals.
Bellers will play up there and we know he'll score goals but he's not likely to be prolific?
The guy I've got in mind is Fraizer Campbell, not likely to get many starts for Sunderland with Fletcher, Saha, Sessegon, Wickham possibly others, could maybe get him on loan and proven goalscorer at this level.
More than happy with the rest

I'm happy with the squad as it is. Unless we can get someone exceptional in on loan I would leave it until January.

We are definitely capable of automatic promotion.

Defence isnt good enough - KM/AT solid back-up but I think we need to replace both and bring in a more mobile centre back to give us an alternative as any combination of BT/MH/MC susceptible to pace ! Would be gr8 to have another striking option with NM out ! Disappointed neither Kim or EV have made an impact as of yet ! Pleasing start to date but time to strengthen is when things are goin well not after we've slipped up or injuries/suspensions mount ! I'd look to get the cheque book out in January ! Hopefully , MM is already identifying players who can improve us !
