Wales hero Gareth Bale: 'We can still qualify for World Cup 2014'
Oct 12 2012
Gareth Bale believes Wales’ 2-1 win against Scotland tonight can kickstart them in their 2014 World Cup qualification campaign.
A double from Bale secured all three points and a first victory in Group A for Wales despite Scotland having taken the lead through James Morrison in the first half.
But star man Bale had the final say in the clash in Cardiff when he won and converted a second half penalty, before grabbing a stunning long-range winner with a minute to go.
Bale told Sky Sports 1: “We needed it, it’s a kickstart to our campaign, hopefully it can inspire us now for the matches ahead.
“We all knew coming in it was a massive game for us.
“We let ourselves down as well as the nation last time out.
“We went a goal down but we fought back like men and it was a great result.”
As for the winning goal he said: “There was a bit of space in front of me, I drove into it and no one closed me down.
“Some go in and some don’t.”

We played alright but we won't get anything at Croatia, we don't stand a chance in my opinion.

Rubbish Scottish side?! Come on Annis, plenty of quality in their side, players playing in top teams who signed for big money. Ok, they r no world beaters, but that was 1 commendable and hard fought win. Especially when low on confidence, and a win when our own fans don't mind if we lose, a win when we're expected to lose!! I can go on!!! Come on, I'm not a fan of this regime but, let him hang himself for being a clown and clueless, instead of him avin the excuse of bein forced out by the blue side of Wales.

If we quality it will be because Bale was consistent throughout and fired us there himself. Even though he is a diver I will give him credit because he always plays with passion and tries to get involved and make an impact on the game.

Slightly off topic but I thought the atmosphere was electric at times lastnight. Really good effort by the jocks and welsh fans. When you get a good away support at the ccs, it makes all the difference. Can't really blame the stadium for the lack of atmosphere anymore, its down to the fans

I was really disappointed with Ramseys performance, his passing was abysmal, he gets into all the right positions, sees all the right passes, then fails to execute them 9 times out of ten. Having spent so much time at a top club like Arsenal his passing game should be a lot, lot better.

Very disappointed with Ledley, would get in the Cardiff side I rekon

Scotland are a unbelievablely poor international side all they do is lump it forward. It was a good win but we can't get carried away. We have to many passengers in our side Morrison very poor dreadful first touch, Vaughan had a shocker. Keeper looks shaky and the back 4 looks like we will always concede. Fair play to that young jack at left back looked very composed he done well.

2 sides were equal apart from a world class Gareth Bale,
Ramsey and Joe Allen had good games.
Darcy Blake impressive last night, just goes to show that a run of games always brings out the best in him. He would have been a great player should Malky have given him a good run of games.
Croatia will bring out a really difficult challenge for us next week especially without Ramsey who will miss the game.

i really cant see us getting top two, but having said that, if we could possibly sneak a win on tuesday it puts us back on track.

To win any major football trophy, you need more than one world class player in your team, now that Bellamy looks to have had enough of Coleman and his fellow jack cohorts,in Bale we have one world class player in a team of workhorses who would find it difficult to break into City's first team,so i come down on the side of people who say no chance of winning any major competition for at least a decade

But he's not first-choice, so he won't be keeper for long.
Vaughan is a good player but I was out last night and didn't actually see the game, so highlights won't really give me a great insight into his performance.
It was the same back four as the Belgium game (apart from Davies), and I thought they performed very well then, especially in light of the circumstances (i.e. Collins' sending off). The back four last night are all very good individual players, but sometimes it doesn't quite work collectively.
