You can't be offside if:
you receive the ball directly from a goal kick, a throw-in or a corner
you are in your own half of the pitch
you are level with the second last or last two opponents

they'll moan like f**k anyway they always do,adam was slightly offside before he swung the cross in for there disalowed goal...and the bale pen,but we had plentyo of other shouts and berra was allover davies for a blatant pen that wasnt given.

To be honest I didn't know that for years either. If the keeper has the ball in his hands and kicks, it's offside because the ball being in the keepers hands means the ball is in play, so it's no different to a long ball forwards from a defender or a through ball from a midfielder. A goal kick is different however as it is a dead ball. I guess the attacking team can't gain an advantage from their own goal kick as the ball can't get kicked far enough up the pitch to give the team an attacking advantage, so it's always been decided you can't get offside from it.

......another unknown rule is

if the Scottish centre forward (who has no teeth) handles the ball in the oppositions penalty area, it is a penalty to Scotland !

From goal kick the ball is dead until any player touches the ball. Hence cannot b offside

But you can be offside from a free kick? I havn't heard of this. Knew you can't be offside if the ball is played backwards or from a throw.
