To get you in the mood for tonight...

Joe Jordan, 1977. I love the commentary, "A handball if ever there was one!"

And 1985 at Ninian Park, the first International match I ever went to, sadly ending with the passing of Jock Stein...

After both these matches, Scotland qualified for the World Cup finals, here's hoping for the hat-trick :thumbright:

Both times due to mistakes by the officials. Here's hoping we have to just play against 11 men tonight.

In fairness, the Joe Jordan one is an absolute shocker! The 1985 one was soft, but the Jordan one is just bizarre?

I went too both games,,, & both games mentioned had controversial refereeing decisions. The penalty in the 85 game at NP should never have been given, imho.

The penalty in 1985 was just as controversial. A Welsh defender (I've forgotten his name) was clearing the ball out of our area and as he kicked it up in the air, the ball brushed his hand. Someone please tell me how that can be judged to be handball? It defies belief. I was so angry at the time - and I'm ashamed to say this - but I couldn't care less about Jock Stein, I was fuming that we'd been robbed by the Jocks again.

To be honest, I didn't actually see much of the game, I was only 8 at the time and couldn't see sod all. Absolutely bouncing afterwards though that Scotland still had a chance to get to the World Cup. Then, on the way back to Swansea, the atmosphere was awful with the Scots fans as the news was breaking about Jock Stein. I had no idea what the hell was going on.

Looking at them years later, both times Wales were mugged, no arguments from me about that, I just wish we both had teams like we did in those days, in fact, I wish there was something riding on the match tonight but I think we have both had it with regards to Rio.

Fair enough.

I was 20 at the time and I saw it clearly from the Bob Bank. I was fuming.

With reference to the 77 Anfield game, how many Scottish players do you think were on "dope" that night???
