It's just a thought, I think it would be class at the CCS, everyone would join in and it's unique to us!

That pub at the beginning was in the town of Namur. I was there, but I didn't spot myself in the video clip. I noticed some familiar faces stood around on the terrace looking bored at about 40 seconds!

Great trip. Take a look at some of my photos:

The Ayatollah is one of the unique things that we have, so I think we should keep it and do it more again.

Think it started when news images of mad medieval rag-heads used to be beamed pre-internet into our televisual-sets rebelling against something despicable, like allowing education for women or something terrible like that. I remember seeing them hitting their own heads until they bled. Crazy fuckers. And in typical brilliant-humoured Cardiff style, it was adopted. I still think its great, even after all these years and long may it last. And let's face it, look what's happened since. The Ayatollah predicted the madness of now.

I first saw it during the Intifada.

It was the name of the Palestinian uprising against the Israeli occupation of Gaza and the West Bank of Jerusalem - nothing to do with stopping education for women or anything like that and I considered it admirable, not despicable.
Hezbollah, during some of their marches, used to have men, wearing white aprons around their necks, who would slash their heads with razors and then slap them, making them bleed. They were showing their commitment to the cause.
We had a fanzine in the late 80s called Intifada (which means uprising) and the editorial in it was called Satanic Verses (until they bottled it and changed it) and they referred to our chairman at the time (Tony Clemo) as The Ayatollah and they used to say "Do The Ayatollah" - meaning "get rid of him" - and then the head slapping "Ayatollah" came along shortly afterwards.

I'm much older than Carlos and I'm not from Neath, I'm from Kay-arr-diff. I've only lived in Neath for the last 20 years. Feel free to PM me any time you like and you're welcome to join me for a beer before home games in The Cornwall. I'm not joking, you seem like a right laugh and I'm not the serious specky type, either.
