MALKY MACKAY SHORTLISTED

Thu Oct 11, 2012 12:20 pm

Football League press release: With two months completed the season is beginning to take shape and with September now over, it is time to reward the month’s standout performers, both in the dugout and on the pitch.

Football League sponsors npower are proud to reveal the nominations for both the npower Championship Manager and Player of the Month Awards for September.

The winners will be announced on Friday 12th October 2012, with the final decision being made by two separate Football League judging panels.

The nominations for the npower Championship Manager of the Month Award for September are:

Malky Mackay (Cardiff City)
With four wins from their five September fixtures, Cardiff City are once again challenging for Premier League promotion. Under Malky Mackay’s tutelage, the Bluebirds finished September in second place, only trailing league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion on goal difference.

Dougie Freedman (Crystal Palace)
With four wins and a draw, Dougie Freedman’s Crystal Palace top the form charts for September and are now well in contention to challenge for a play-off position. The popular Glaswegian has made a great impact at Selhurst Park and The Eagles’ faithful now have every reason to be optimistic for the rest of the season.

Nigel Pearson (Leicester City)
Now in his second spell with Leicester City, Nigel Pearson has had a great month with The Foxes, winning four and losing one of their five September fixtures. After a slow start, this run has pushed Leicester into the play-off positions and fans will be silently hopeful that this run will kick-start a concerted promotion challenge.

Malky deserves it but after last time I hope he doesn't win any managerial awards until manager of the season in a few months time! ;) Also reckon it would be criminal if Whitts didn't get player of the month (not seen the shortlist yet), best player outside of the Prem by far. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

agree with the above, both pearson and malky have top teams and have squads full of bought in quality, palace are a smallish club on a small budget performing way above the sum of their parts so it has to go to freedman for me :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Got to be dougie, not taking away from what malky has done but the foundations were laid last season. Who expected palace to be playing as well as they have?

freedman got it, like a few of us predicted, so he gets the poisoned chalice and will now lose the next few games
