it's not just a case of 4 years time. They would have to play qualifying matches beforehand aswell. What has it got to do with Welsh FA anyway? It was an FA guy who said that there probably wouldn't be a mens team in Rio.

simple......the welsh F.A. have opposed a G.B. team from day 1.......even welsh players threatened to quit if they were not allowed to play for G.B.... :ayatollah:

The Welsh FA opposed it from Day 1, as you said, but there was still a team at the Olympics. It's not the Welsh FA's decision whether to enter a GB team or not. There were plenty of Welsh players in the squad, but NO Scottish or Northern Irish. I would say its more the fault of those two countries.

Its the British Olympic Committee who decide what teams are entered. The FA's of each country can support it or not, it doesn't really matter. Wales did not support it but provided a significant proportion of the squad. Scotland provided nobody and neither did Northern Ireland. Lets be honest, even the players England provided were not exactly world-beaters were they?

the welsh F.A had to reconsider the original decision NOT to allow players to play for G.B..and this only happened when certain players gave the F.A. an option, let us play,or we will never play for wales again....fact :ayatollah:

A Team GB would have no means of qualifying for Rio in 2016 as the qualification process is done through the u21s.

So it was always a non starter and no fault of the Welsh FA.

exactly....it was only an option for London through being the host nation. GB can't qualify through the under 21's as all home nations have their own teams. NOT the Welsh FA's fault. Also, NONE of the home countries had the power to stop their players representing GB as the Olympic football tournament is an official FIFA tournament.

A team that represents GB would ultimately undermine the four home countries independance, I support the Welsh team, I enjoyed watching the Olympic football but not at the expence of our indipendance :ayatollah: :old: :ayatollah:
