Considering that we are top ......

Sun Oct 07, 2012 7:20 pm

of the 7 other teams in the top 8, we've played 6 of them and we're still top.

so we haven't got there by having an easy start.

great effort boys....

we need to make sure we put away the lesser teams and we will reach the promised land.

We havn't played the likes of Barnsley, Peterborough, Burnley, Charlton, Wednesday etc yet so I'm pretty confident we'll be in the right place all season :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Very good shout. Since our return to this division, historically we have always
struggled against the top six teams.

Providing we dont go and do a role reversal, and start losing to the strugglers...

Whats to stop us?

4 bloody 5 - 1 with Cowie as a winger will help dare I say 'lesser' teams (like Ipswich) to have a real go at us.
We can't rely on keeper fumbles.

Hopefully Conway has done himself a world of good.
Still puzzled as to why we spent over £3 million on Kim and Etien?

anyone can beat anyone in this division, although of course its great that we have had a good start against some tough teams.

Brighton apart, have we really played anyone away yet though? Forest and Bolton our next two away games, will be tough.

I think Malky is being patient with these two. Kim looked promising in the olympics so I really believe we have got a key player there. Etien looked pacey and composed in the Newcastle game, good cheeky goal he scored too. These are regular starters for sure, Hopefully we will see more of them on the pitch after the international break.

im sure well see them very soon
kim can barely string a sentence in english together at the moment it will take time for him to settle fully
plus the team malky is putting out is good enough to be top of the league,so no need to panic yet

I feel i must issue a word of caution about playing so called lesser teams,Ipswich were second from bottom, hadn't won a game in seven matches, but if we were to analise that game with honesty, they had at least 60% of the game, and played the better football, particularly in the first half

There really are no easy games in this division!

As for Etien and Kim bo..

Somebody made the point on another thread. They are both young. Kim Bo has admitted
he finds the pace a bit much at the minute. Malky is in no rush, we are top right now.
Get these lads properly oriented to Championship Football and they could be like two new
signings come January

Not according to the BBC website :? 51% possession. Also had 21 shots 8 on target against Ipswich's 25 shots 9 on target.

Given that we were the away side I'd say that's pretty good stats for a team that played nowhere near their potential  :ayatollah:

Thats a problem for every team. When Cardiff play Leeds, Wolves, Leicester, Blackburn
the players are going to be totally focused and chomping at the bit. Its human nature for
a footballer to unconsciously drop a few % when its an alleged 'easier game'.... too many
players did just that in the first half against Ipswich

Thats where a good manager and a strong Captain come to the fore

Second Half, everyone did their job and we won the half 2-0. Job done!

The trick is to make sure the players go out totally and utterly focused and determined
even against the 'lesser teams'... But we wont be the first or the last to slip up a bit....

But lots of teams will find themselves in our position against lower table teams and still lose :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Looking back to the Huddersfield game.. I don't care we played crap because they are a strong team and done well theirself considering their new.. we really are a team that looks like scoring and we dont give up..

Against Birmingham and Ipswich.. we fought back and didn't settle for a draw we kept going for the 3 points.. The quality in the team is fantastic but the hard working ethic from Malky is still there and he was worked quality and hardwork to good effect. :ayatollah:

Agree not an easy start but of the 6 teams the games we won were at home. Still good wins but tougher to come

Any team that comes to our ground.. always important to get all 3 points if we want a chance to stay top.

May have a lot to do with the fact that both those players have previously played in leagues during our close season here in the uk and in Kims case also in the Olympics. So he has given them a short break and eased them into it. I think you will find later in the season both will become first choice players just give them time coz thats what Malky's doing. :ayatollah:
