yes it's all down to the colour! nothing to do with a quality team, squad depth, brilliant manager and great backroom staff! nothing to do with them, all cos we're red!

redbirds redbirds redbirds

I actually believe there is something to this. Obviously this is not the sole reason but I do believe its a factor. Red is more intimidating a colour than blue and in a stadium of red and blue, red stands out more and therefore it looks like there is more fans of the club in red. The same as Dortmund's yellow and black strip is very striking and stands out. If you look at a lot of the top clubs they wear red or red with another colour. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, AC Milan, Real Madrid as a third kit, Bayern, etc. Obviously you have Inter, Manchester City and Chelsea but they all spent stupid amounts of net money on players in comparison who are out of this world.
The 70's of the Champions League were won entirely by teams who have red on their kit. Liverpool, Ajax, Bayern and Forest I believe. May be wrong on this. Feyenoord may have won it during that period, can't remember but they also have red on their kit.
Maybe its just psychological but on the pitch a team in red may seem like it has more players and that they are everywhere swarming. Even though its not technically the case seeing red swarm at you may have this effect. Red is a very strong colour and it could have this effect.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/scie ... -more.htmlI know it seems ridiculous but it could be a minor factor.

Blue was hardly a lucky colour for us, that's for sure.

At the moment it's lucky but that's just the way it's happening. No doubt it will become unlucky when we lose a few.
I do get the feeling some fans can't wait for the team to lose wearing red just to get a dig in, I find that quite sad.

I think that a person who believes in a "lucky" colour (whether it be red , blue or anything else) is almost certainly the gullible type that also believes in the horoscopes in the daily papers.

Yes, exactly - the colour of the shirts has got nothing to do with the results.
We would have won just as many if we'd played in blue.

If RED is lucky and it gets us promoted,, who cares
Sun Oct 07, 2012 1:38 pm
There is no such thing as luck.
Sun Oct 07, 2012 1:39 pm
I care,as its heritage, if all you want is Premiership why not go to the jacks this year, villa next, liverpool or man u after that.
Sun Oct 07, 2012 1:57 pm
Anyone who believes in this 'luck' thing are deluded, they'll all look stupid when we lose our first home game which will happen soon enough.
Sun Oct 07, 2012 3:40 pm
Come on why have we not won much in blue ? Because we are boring away from home so more chance of loosing. Of coarse red must be why we are winning

if it was the colour wales would world cup winners.didn,t help arsenal much either when the mighty birmingham city in royal blue beat em in the carling cup final.mumbo jumbo.something to do with the team and the graft put in i,d say

only 2 clubs have bucked the red dominance of man utd, l'pool and arsenal in 40 years, thats chelsea in the main and lately man city. both of these recent 2 have almost spent half a billion £££ to get them there.....make of that what u will.

Bristol City away was down to the fact our performances hadn't exactly clicked..
Palace was down to not having Mutch and just a bad day in defence.

Clearly its the colour not the team - as a test of faith in this theory lets sack the manager and his staff, play the "second" team oh and paint them in red body paint for good measure!
Mon Oct 08, 2012 1:48 pm
Red is terrible colour when the team is know as the BLUEbirds, its like Birmingham City know as the BLUES changing their home kit to red, it would never ever happen, what teams would except it ? none !!!
We are winning because we have a great team, not a ridiculouse colour, love blue hate red
