My upgrade for my next mobile is now due and my current contract also due to expire at the end of the month..
currently im with orange (soon to be ee) now ive been with orange for donkeys and with them launching 4g soon would prefer to stay with them, but they wont let me upgrade my current phone for any of the following without paying a fortune for. currently i pay 32quid a month for 600 mins, ultd texts and 1gb download. i dont really need 600 mins and have had that for ages, so wouldnt bother me if i dropped it down to 200-300.
the phones im looking at are: samsung galaxy s3, htc one x, sony xperia t. orange want £199 for samsung, htc £159 and sony £159.
theres no way im paying that as i can wait til contract runs out and just get a new one from various providers.
my question is should i stick with orange, or change to a different network? whats the coverage like with 02 or vodafone etc.. and also what are they like customer service wise?
plus which of the above phones would be the best to have?

Worst advice ever. My contract is finishing this month with T-Mobile and they are a terrible network.
If you phone up Orange you're likely to get a better deal because on the phone they do not claim commission whereas in the shop and online they claim commission.

Hiya mate, thought id have a little say on this one. I am an assistant manager at the big Liverpool Orange Retail store, so I pretty much know why you'd have to pay so much for certain handsets. It has feck all to do with longevity of your time with Orange, or with any other network for that matter. I hate customers coming in and saying 'ive been with Orange for 45,000 years'. You get deals based upon your investment class, this is basically a banding from 1 to 5 and reflect your annual usuage.
In a nutshell you use a lot of your minutes, your likely to be a 4 or 5....so when you come in store Ive got every thing to play with.
I had a fella in today who said his circumstances have changed, he's now redundant, wont be using his phone, want bring down costs but wants one of the most expensive handsets in the market. Usually id think, what a tw*t does he realise how business works etc... I got up his details, saw that he was band 5....I said buy a case and insurance and ill give you the s3 (excess of £300 on 10.50 tariff usually) on a 10.50 tariff...and he did, win/win.
Obviously customers dont know about investment class, its a upselling tool...but now you do.

What's investment class?
Ie how much you pay a month?
Or is it something to do with how many minutes etc you use compared to your contract?

So you hate people asking for offers based on lenth of time with you. That really winds me up about all these sort of companies, surely if you've been with someone for a lenth of time and are 'loyal' you should get a better deal than a new customer. The reason you don't is cos they know how much they can fleece you and are willing to give a little bit more away to get another mug on the hook. I know a business needs to make money but some fair play along the way would be nice ! Bunch of cuunts

Best network I ever experienced on a smart phone is 3.
Went online got the S3 delivered to my door within 48hrs.on the one plan. £35 a month (Inc. The one plan £4 bundle) unlimited everything basically including free tethering...
The handset was free! And I'd been with orange 5yrs previous @ £40 a month! You can request a PAC code from orange and take your number with you!

I rang orange and told them when i spoke with an advisor the previous day he offered me the s3 for free instead of the £49.99 they wanted......so they said they would honour it.
Never even spoke to anybody, just made it up.

I am referring to the retail side of things, it's pretty similar over the phone but they can have more flexibility to give a better deal, but again...only if its worth their while.

3 network will always and always will give a better price the big networks. Why? 3 own 10% of the market and their signal coverage statistics are below half of oranges, they offer these deals to compete. So you pay less with 3
but the quality of your service is compromised...now I get people who say they've never had a problem but they travel around and they soon do.
I'm gonna be cheesy but orange, since 2011 is the no1 network provider in the country and that is a fact. Oh and the only 4g provider. Well I am paid to be passionate!

Three great deals. Tesco customer service is great as British call centres.
Go through Quidco whatever you do to get cashback.
