CARDIFF CITY captain Mark Hudson admits everyone is aiming to shoot the table-topping Bluebirds down, but declared he and his team-mates are ready for the challenge.
Malky Mackay’s men surged to the Championship summit with victory over Birmingham, Hudson himself grabbing the winning goal.
Cardiff are a point ahead of their nearest rivals Leicester and travel to Ipswich on Saturday for their next clash.
Hudson insisted that having worked so hard to clinch top spot, the Bluebirds were in no mood to relinquish it.
“Everyone is going to try to beat us because we are top of the league at the moment,” said Hudson.
“But they are also going to be fearing us because of the way we are playing which is great.
“We have to keep that going now.
“The players are going to relish it. You look around in that dressing room and you look at the people there.
“People are fighting for their places to start with and now we are fighting to keep ourselves at the top.
“We’ll continue to do that.
“It’s something that we need to hold on to now. It gives us that aim.”
For the first time in 66 years Cardiff have won their opening five league games at home, but if they are to be top this weekend they are going to have to do it via one of the longest away days of the season.
Hudson believes he and his teammates are more than up to the job.
“We’ve had a good start, but now we know we’ve got another tough game at Ipswich to come,” added Hudson.
“We’ve got a lot travelling to do, but, if we can get another three points on the board before the international break, then that would be great.
“We are going to be going there with confidence and we will be looking to do the job.”
