mc naughton frustrates me?

Wed Oct 03, 2012 9:12 pm

as a defender around the 18 yard box. he is excellent. taking the ball off strikers etc, but last night. he gave the ball away coming out of defence. 9 times out of 10, just kicking the ball to the oponents . which leads to an attack

I know but you know you can not mention what you watched because we won, so anything else shouldnt matter according to some fans

i know  im not slagging kev off. he took the ball off lita in a scoring position a couple of times, its just we brake the play up. mc naughton on the ball . and he passes the ball straight to the opposition, and there back on the attack. cant keep that happening. will be punished one day

There is pressure on all our defenders now. Turner sat waiting his chance.

So far, Hudson, Connelly AND Taylor have answered the call.

Kevin is costing us, but luckily its usually a bit further up the pitch, he really needs
to up his performances, if he can!!

defensively strong, no question about that, but obviously if he was a player who could attack better, he would already be in the prem.

he isnt letting us down defensively and thats the main thing for me.

Been a great servant to the club and it is hard to slag him off but I said exactly the same thing during the game.

He did loft a great ball throo to Mason, that's one :D

he seems to be much more comfortable with tommy smith in front of him ,which allows kev to concentrate on his defending which hes very good at
Theres no real reason for mcnaughton to go past the half way line anymore, now hes got an attacking hard working wide man in front of him#
It frustrated the hell out of me last season when kev would burst forward only for don cowie(a good player, but not a wide man) to drift inside

I think a lot of this stems from what McNaughton has in front of him.

In recent weeks when he had Tommy Smith in front of him he's been playing as well as he ever has, with Mason that wasn't the case, nor was it with Cowie for most of last season, but with Burke it was pretty good too.

Smith is adept at making himsel;f available and giving the full back options and when he gets back, hopefully, Kev will get back to the level he had for the games previous to Brum :ayatollah:

Having said all of that, because of his pace, reading of the game and ability to cover across, like on Lita on Tuesday, he is still worth his place even if his distribution lets him down IMHO.

Of all the players he and Whitts really deserve promotion for their loyalty, there ain't many left from when those two joined us :ayatollah:

If there's no options in front of him, go backwards. Simple. Retain possession.
Kev tries to force the pass far to often. Great servant but seems to be getting
found out a bit now there are better players around him. but as you say, defensively
he is a difficult defender to beat. I wouldnt drop him. Id work on him.

With Smith in front of him, kevs looked as good as ever this season

If his passing was good he would easily be a good quality premiership fullback.

I think people are obsessing about his passing a little, yes it can be poor but not always and with the right player he can link up well.

It's Tan's fault, I mean Kev struggled for years to pass to players in blue then he changes our colour to red the poor fuckers got no chance

His big weakness is he can't pass the ball, why don't the coaching staff keep him back for practice?

I think it's more about composure than passing, he tries to do things in a rush and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I don't think coaching will help at 30

Would have thought he'd be better now we're in red.

He never passed to a player in blue anyway.
