It was a question not my choice

I fail to see where ANYBODY has spotted a failing in Helgusons game where Gestede would be
better???
He's probably faster...
but have you ever tried catching a headless chicken?

You must be on crack

Helguson has done well for us despite never looking a threat in front of goal. Cant even remeber the last time he had a shot.
I quite like gestede, but dont think he is good enough for this level.

I think MM has faith in Rudy Gestede but I doubt if he would think of a straight swap at this moment. The thing with Helguson is that I don't believe MM ever thought he would need to play him every game, as he has to now with the injury to Maynard.
But without dipping into the loan market surely Rudy will be given a chance because at 35 Helguson is not going to be able to play every game and MM obviously think Velikonja isn't quite ready yet.
The question for me is can Rudy get himself fit, stay fit and make a contribution within the squad and I would say probably yes, but not as a regular starter. He will need to make a big step up for that to happen.

Really can't understand the stick Rudy gets on here, he's only played one season of football over here and tbh he was pretty decent last year.
If he can stay fit, he can definitely do a job for us, similar to Helgusson's

Helguson led the line extremely well last night
very impressed with him again,an excellent and important signing

Helguson has been class for us. I'm always willing to give players that put the effort in a chance but I don't think Gestede is Championship standard. He has the potential to hit 15-20 goals in League One but not for us. I love Helguson. Always have. A proper centre forward and he's taking the hits and dirty work for the benefit of team. What percentage of aerial balls does he not only win but get to our team? It's obscene. Best aerial player we've had for decades in my opinion.

They do the same thing on the pitch, so why not?

I love helguson work ethic, his intelligent runs but this in not the player of two seasons ago. He probably wins 15%~25% of the high balls, he never shirks and give the centre halfs something to think about but I can't see what Rudy does worse than Helguson. He is more of a physical presence, will win more headers, is faster and will score as many but he is injury prone.
Last seasons negative not to lose tactics would have made Maradonna appear ordinary, no one shined in the second half of the season.
With the emphasis this year on the pacey flanks I think it could be a breakout year for Rudy. Remember the target man position is a late 20's early 30's role he just needs to sort the injuries out.
Malky didn't have to extend his contract but he did, he must see something.

Helguson holds and distributes the ball look only Gestade could ever dream of at present Rudi will have to step up to the mark quite a bit before he can be mentioned in the same breath as Helguson even at the age of 35 years old.

rudy was a gamble,he was a young striker with a bit of promise, lets be all honest its not worked out,he might be good enough for division 2 or 3 but he s no where near the standard of player we need to compete at the top end of the championship

Nice to see our fans don't even have faith in our players
I have faith in him and still think he has a chance here.

I think he could do a job, but while Helguson is still fit I'd play him. He does look tired later on in the game though so he could do a job off the bench as well.
