City sweat on Mutch and Smith
Oct 1 2012

JORDON Mutch and Tommy Smith are both rated doubtful for tomorrow’s Championship home match against Birmingham City (7.45pm).

Central midfield player Mutch has missed the last two matches with a foot injury and says: “I’ll be ready for next Saturday’s match against Ipswich Town.

“I have been training and am close to full fitness, but wasn’t quite ready to play against Blackpool.”

Wide man Smith limped off after 25 minutes with a muscle problem and Joe Mason took over.

“Tommy turned inside and felt a tightness in his hamstring and groin,” said manager Malky Mackay. “We took him off as a precaution and will assess the injury again this morning.”

Smith would be a big miss but i would like to see Conway played out wide him and Noone could cause problems for any team . :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

really? hes not good enough to be playing either in a central midfield two or out wide right (which is where he will play if he comes in for smith)

Could play bellers and noone on the wings Whitts and Gunnar in centre and play help ad mason or eti upfront, Conway can cross the ball but he hasn't got the pace to compete with our wingers my personal opinion.

He did. Bellamy and Mason up front, please and give Kim a chance out wide. Let Helguson sell hot dogs or something, because I don't rate him.

Nothing wrong with Cowie as he's got fantastic work rate and is good on the ball. However this season we have been far more effective when we have played players with pace, Noone, Bellamy etc, which I think Cowie lacks. Really he should be used as a central midfielder.
