Is there any reason why the clock at the stadium has to stop at 45 mins and 90 mins and cant go on into added time at the end of both halves. Do we have the cheapo option ?

That is a great question and something I have always wondered about. Does anyone know why clocks never go into added time because I would like to know.

yes 90mins is set time, added time can change from amount stated by 4th official, eg he puts 4 mins up whole ground sees it but then injury/ waisting time can be added so it would be longer than 4mins, if goal is scored after 4 mins can you imagine outcry!! just a pheory

This taken from a UEFA publication, doesn't explain why they don't go into added time though.
"Clocks
12.10 Clocks in the stadium showing the amount of time played may run during the
match, provided they are stopped at the end of normal time in each half, i.e. after
45 and 90 minutes respectively. This stipulation also applies in the event of extra
time (i.e. after 15 and 30 minutes)."
