And there is a part of the UK that speaks welsh as well

The war for the Malvinas was staged to help re-elect a flagging Conservative government who were looking at a huge general election loss

The war for the Malvinas was staged to help re-elect a flagging Conservative government who were looking at a huge general election loss. It worked of course and Thatcher didn't mind that she had many service men killed in the process. Anyone who thinks that it was all about 'defending a British outpost' is wrong, it was means to an end as wars often are, it doesn't matter about the poor lads who have to fight them.
As for Patagonia, it is an urban myth that Gabrielle Heinze speaks Welsh and the Patagonians speak Welsh with a Spanish accent, it's totally understandable.

When the Falklands War was won I knew a mate who was in the paratroopers, he was ordered to guard a group of 15 Argentine conscripts in a sheep shed just outside the capital Stanley. He was not a happy chappy being given this duty and the conscripts did not look to pleased as my mate had a face of thunder on him and for all they knew he was ordered to slot them in that shed. As you can imagine it was not looking good for the Argentine kids so they thought.
My mate checked the kids out and immediately realised they were not going to do anything stupid. He pointed his gun at them and motioned them all into the far corner from the door he was standing in. Once they were all cuddlied in the corner he lowered his gun and with one of his hands motioned them to all sit down. As soon as they were all sat down he stepped into the door frame and lent his tired body against one of the beams and started to try and work out the meaning of life.
The conscripts realising now they were not going to be slotted started to relax. They all looked at each other and the look in their eyes showed that they were all going to be ok. Infact some of them started to feel so lucky that they talked to each other and that is when the concept of this Falklands war change for my mate.
"Pa mor hir cyn i ni fynd adref" said one of the conscripts to his colleague. My mate heard this and went straight up to the culprit. The conscrips eyeballs were bulging out of his sockets with fear as my mate approached him. As he stood over this young Argentine lad and looking down at him my mate asked "Sut y f**k ydych chi'n gwybod Cymru ". That moment my mate asked the question all barriers were broken and the next 20 minutes or so my maye listen to these conscripts telling him they came from the province of Patagonia and they considered Welsh to be their first language.
Anyway getting back to the question, it is not nonesense at all as you claim.

There has been numerous Patagonian welsh entrants to eisteddfods over the years and the welsh they speak is perfectly understandable, but in reply to the post topic I would not support Argentina simply because of the country being of no interest to me
