A forum for all things Cardiff City

So many fans i have spoken to since Sundays win over Wolves seem to think that we will finish in the top 2 this season. Also reading on here there is a massive expectancy level for us to go up automatically.
My worry there is that it puts immense pressure on the team and manager to succeed and the slightest negativity during a game will automatically get a negative reply from the supporters, e.g if we go behind during games or lose etc.
With the players we have signed and the money we have spent then i can fully accept why us fans feel that promotion is the only option this season, but remember Leicester over the last 2 seasons and the amount of money that they have spent, it does NOT guarantee success at all or promotion. So this is just a reminder that we all need to perhaps lower the expectancy levels for now and see how we go without piling the pressure on the team already.
Having said that after Sundays performance i cannot see us ever losing a game again.

I don't think we will but I'm expecting us to go up this season, our squad is incredible.

It was a great win and to see us go down then just basically turned on the pressure was brilliant and there is a massive postive boost as this game was a way to say forget about the Bristol game and lets do it now

Standard Cardiff Fans, last Saturday the world had needed.
Now we are world beaters.
It always been the same and after our next loss we will be the worst team ever again.

the thing with Leicester was though that they sacked their manager only after a few games before the team gelled! if they had kept Sven imo they would of finished higher that what they did cos that was his team that he wanted, while Pearson might not have wanted half the players there!

Yep, at this level we are definitely capable of automatic promotion.

Thats what happens when 18 thousand of our fans are plastics.

Totally disagree.
It seem some of the older fans are the worse for it.

We are not gauanteed a top 2 finish at the end of the season is stating the obvious isn't it? Have heard people saying we are in with a good chance of being in the mix come May but anyone who thinks it's a forgone conclusion aren't thinking straight, nothing is certain in this league even if we do appear to be a strong team this season. I'm thinking top 6 atm and would be happy with that atm aynd be confident of our chances if that was the case.

Thanks for the information. The Championship this year will be the usual total lottery - BUT - Vincent Tan has provided Malky with the funds to secure the services of a team of hungry players, who I am convinced will do all they can to strive for promotion. If this is not achieved this year, then we move on to the following season, more experienced and even more hungry. This is NOT a make or break season.

The difference with Leicester was the kind of players that were bought by Sven were way overpriced and for the money could have got much better players in, now as for Cardiff, Malky has spent wisely and not as much on IMO much better players with NO egos.
I'm not thinking we are guaranteed top two but I think we will certainly have a go and the players will be well up for it.
Let us enjoy the ride and watch one of the best Bluebirds squads in recent times fly.

First of all you say fans THINK we will finish top two - What's wrong with that?
Secondly you ask fans to lower their expectations?

are you crazy?
What we expect and what we get are two different things! Yes, but expectation is also based on an opinion.
My opinion is I expect this squad to win the league? Is that unfair? I don't think so.

Have i said there is anything wrong in thinking that we will finish top 2. i am one of them fans to for a start.
Im far from crazy just worried that if we lose our next game then the fans will go back to slating Mackay and the team.
Only you seem to think that anything is unfair, you say expectation is based on opionion, well i have had my opinion and you have had yours, not all opinions are the same, thats what creates the debate, so quit the nit picking and being a smart arse.

Calm down mate....
All I'm saying is after bringing in 23 quality players and a £100mil re brand, should we really lower our expectations - no way!
I accept that you may agree with that or be a fan That will remain expectant. But I'm certainly not nit picking mate. Nor did I mean to come across that way. Sorry. I was just counteracting your topic?

I dont think there can be any more pressure on the team than "We have to go up or else" TBF
Thu Sep 06, 2012 7:45 pm
Our squad this season has a lot other teams would want.....
Strength, depth, quality and with Noone some pace which we lacked last season.
Bring it on , not expecting promotion but we can do it
And more importantly we have a squad which is capable of doing it
Thu Sep 06, 2012 9:07 pm
agree luton, we've had starting 11's similar in quality to this one but never the squad or bench...... i'm not getting carried away as wolves were shocking last week but i expect tpo 4 or better this year....
