PLEASE HELP OUT A FELLOW BLUEBIRD

I had my heart set on a vacancy at a big communications/telecoms company. But due to unforseen circumstances they are no longer offering apprenticeships for 2012 so im planning on going back to college. The only problem being is that I havent got a clue what subjects to because I havent got a clue what job I want to go into. Just wondering what you would advise as a solid career with half decent pay and half decent enjoyment levels? Thanks in advance

The construction industry seems to be slowly picking itself up, decent money and when/if the economy picks up there'll be loads of jobs going too.

Do Computing and Sciences if you decide on A Levels.

Then if you decide to go to university you can do Physics/Computer Science etc.

All good pay and you can get into a variety of sectors - computing industry, science research, banking, etc.

Hard work and seems like a daunting task when put like that but just break it down into smaller bits and you'll be fine.

Do Computing and Sciences if you decide on A Levels.

Then if you decide to go to university you can do Physics/Computer Science etc.

All good pay and you can get into a variety of sectors - computing industry, science research, banking, etc.

Electrician is the best trade at the moment, followed by Computers, both are always needed and have specialist areas that can be extremely lucrative, also if you wish to get into Telecoms, both look good on the CV.

In all fairness to Nukes who was sort of joking, look into the apprenticeships in the nuclear industry. There's a lot of money going to spent in the UK in the foreseeable future decommissioning the nuke power stations and if you take into account the old soviet socialists states ones which are truly knackered and will take billions of euro's to sort out then a lot of money to be made in a secure job for the next 25 - 75 years. OK you might glow in the dark for a while but better than sitting at desk pushing a piece of paper from one side to the other.

I know that training academy's have already been set up in the UK for the Engineers and Scientists as they firstly have to work how the things were put together in the first place as the guys who originally designed/built them are sort of retired now...

The next stage will be to set up the training centres for the guys that will actually do the work on the ground which will be very well paid (this may have been done, the government have and still are putting a shit load of money into this). Off the top of my head I can't think of the companies involved, Nukes can correct me but I think RWE and their partners pulled out as they realised they'd bitten off more than they could chew. Happens with French Companies a lot!!

I am serious, this is going to be a major growth area for the UK as we still have a few bods knocking about who do know how to take these things apart, the earlier comment was a joke btw, but as I say I'm not up to speed on what's been happening as not my field. Don't listen to any of small minded lefty propaganda on this, it's a perfectly safe industry, the guys who maintain mobile phone and TV masts for example get a bigger dose of radiation each time they work on the equipment then Nukes has probably had in all his time working in the industry.

Off the top of my head I doubt they'd run any courses in South Wales specifically for the industry so if you don't want move yet , look at the old BTEC courses, used to be ONC and HNC in Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering or there maybe still be a general Engineering one.

Don't what I do, OK it's very well paid and I do get to travel a lot but I've had to learn to say "Aww for fucks sake you f*cking clowns, now what yer done yer stupid twats" in about ten different languages

Aerospace sector is quite strong in south wales.Quite a few colleges do that around here Barry Morganwwg etc.

What's your opinion on that? Personally, I can only think there's been a 'falling out' at McLaren, as I always thought he would be a 'one team man' (a bit like yourself!!)

you'l need to read 2 or 3 books from ebay, ''kill everyone'' lee nelson is a great one
read the books over 2,3,4 times till its drilled in, start practicing on facebook or in the 1p rooms,

use youtube to read up on tips and strategy when u get some experience, and just practice try learn something new every day and listen to the best on youtube read their books
