Anyone know the maximum capacity size of the CCS after expansions? I know we have plans to extend if we go up but what if he do well and stay up then, can it be extended any further? Hope so, would be great to get more people in there singing.
Imagine what Cardiff City would be like in Europe if we made it. Amazing, mouthwatering.

IIRC The stadium was designed to be easily expanded, I think it would be a case of taking off the roof and adding another tier on top.
Tue Sep 04, 2012 6:10 pm
Wasn't it 60,000 max?
Would be good if someone posted the leaflet or that people received about it!
Tue Sep 04, 2012 6:13 pm
I thought maximum capacity was something like 35,000

Dont quote me on that though.... Just a number that is burned into my memory.
Tue Sep 04, 2012 6:18 pm
It will be extended to 35,000 when we're in the Premier League.
Not sure what the maximum is though.
Job for Annis?

I seem to recall that we were told the first stage of expansion would increase our capacity to 35000 but ultimately it could reach 60000. I am sure someone will confirm this.
Tue Sep 04, 2012 6:33 pm
The foundations are strong enough to hold 60k! And pass all safety measures. But the next faze of expantion if promotion is gained will be 35-38thousand or something like that! But I'm sure I read somewhere that the foundations of the stadium are strong enough to double the capacity plus a few more

Okay, cheers for the info.
The CCS with 50,000+ people in it would be amazing.

Agreed!

we havent got the fan base to go past 30000 in my opinion..... its irrelevant what the maximum it can be is....

If we go up I think our fan base would boom. Look at what promotion and stability in this division did for our attendances.
Making that next step is what will drag the glory supporters down the CCS. Some may not like it but they will be there. Hopefully its to get behind Cardiff rather than just see their prem team once a year.

From what i read a lttle while ago, although the stadium could be increased to 60k, the new hotel development will cause problems in terms of there being restricted access and potentially no approval for a development in excess of 35k.
Tue Sep 04, 2012 7:16 pm
Im sure it was designed to go to 60,000 but didn't carl say something before that we couldn't do it, something to do with the surrounding car parks, not that we'd ever need to expand to that number, imo

History creates fans my friend. Other big City clubs have proven that regardless of their current state, a proud history creates an everlasting huge fanbase. We just need to go get in that league and stay there.

We struggle to get a full house now,but no doubt if we get to the premiership you,le see all the glory hunters (like when we get to wembley) coming in their droves (like they do down the liberty, remember a couple of years ago they would be lucky to get 15000)
Tue Sep 04, 2012 8:01 pm
35k is what is proposed wont go higher as not enough room for access around stadium due to buildings that are going to be built ( hotel) all to do with regulations no way around them! simular problem stopped ninian being redeveloped!

yes is able to go to 60k but now never happen because of whats been stated!

This......from a planning permission perspective we wont be able to expand because we wont be able to implement more entrances and exits from the stadium.

Initially it was going to be 60k but maximum capacity is now 44k (ish) due to the riddlers selling off land to the S.S (McDonalds).
Tue Sep 04, 2012 8:36 pm
When's the hotel going to be built?

We could easily get 35K if we were in the prem specially for a couple of years. Years ago we were getting 30k+ in Ninian park so why not now

Surely if the time come and tan wanted to expand even more then a deal could be struck and the problem could be overcome with the surrounding areas to sort this out???? Vincent tan he does what he wants!

Don't see why people dislike the glory hunters? More money into the club and all that, all wanna get behind a SUCCESSFUL Cardiff City?
Tue Sep 04, 2012 9:46 pm
The Cardiff City Stadium, was able to be extended to 60,000! However it decreased because, of the shopping complex being built and KFC and McDonalda being built on the Canton side! It's believed it can be extended to around 35-40 thousand
Tue Sep 04, 2012 9:59 pm
I heard that it could potentially go up to 60,000 max if we ever become huge. It will go up to 35,000 though if we go up.

ffs our fan base is huge being all the valleys, cdf, newport ect ect thats our base always has been! if swans boast 10k waiting list as well as 20k regullars thats 30k! we get 3/4 of that total for each game , so if in premier easy get 35k
Wed Sep 05, 2012 7:57 am
In the Premier League with a 35,000 capacity, we'd need a bigger away section than we have now and more seats would be lost for segregation than we lose now, leaving around 30-31,000 for home fans. We'd surely fill that on a regular basis....

Not sure if that is right. OK I'm going on info Ridsdale gave

at the fans meeting in the Merriot Hotel back in 2007 (or something like that)
He said that the club had full planning permission to expand CCS to 58,000.
However, due to costs the foundations would only be built to a maximum of 37,000. If after that the club wanted to expand to 58,000 it was possible but would cost a lot of money due to new foundations being laid.

Speaking as someone who had a close conection to the planning of the stadium, some of the stories about the capacity being restricted due to the retail units, restaurants or hotel is ridiculous.
Everything that has been built (or will be built) around the ground formed part of the masterplan approved by the council. The hotel was ALWAYS going to be built.
Whilst the original simple structure of the stadium was altered to cut costs, 60k remains achievable but would involve additional enabling works. Very little is impossible when it comes to construction. Ive always laughed at the people who proclaimed that Jacks could never expand Liberty due to 'foundations'.
The original idea for CCS was a 'flat pack' stadium which could be taken apart and expanded with ease, ironically like Lego, to quickly be expanded to cope with any increase in demand. This remains true for up to 35,000 (ish). The stadium can still go beyond this but the structure of the stadium would need to be altered, similar to what they've done at Old Trafford. The talk about space for exits etc is quite simply bollox. The space around CCS is more than adaquate for an 60,000 capacity stadium.

Anyone know about the corners? I thought they were only left empty because of the extra use of the pitch by the rugby - can some of them be filled now they have left?
