Do we need another striker?

Tue Sep 04, 2012 12:42 pm

Obviously Malky needs to bring in 1 or 2 defenders when the loan market opens as we are very short on numbers there.

But what happens if someone like Helguson gets injured? Who then is going to go up front and win headers and flick ons to the likes of Nicky Maynard? Rudy seems to be too injury prone.

Could we do with another target man type striker? As well as the loan market, there are some good free agent players out there. Personally, I would take Emile Heskey on a free, but obviously it's very unlikely to happen! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Who's going to play up front with Maynard if Helguson gets injured? Heidar is 36 now and is known to be very injury prone.

The point I'm making is Helguson is the only striker we have who can win aerial battles to complement Nicky Maynard.

Velikonja, Earnshaw, Mason and Bellamy are all natural goalscorers and won't necessarily work well with Maynard. Rudy is an option but is far too injury prone.

IMO Malky needs to sell Earnie and Rudy in Jan and get in another stiker who will complement Maynard.

GOOD ONE!!

Back to the topic anyway, you clearly haven't seen velikonja play, he has great technique and can hold the ball up just as well as helguson. I can't wait until he gets his shot.

I think Mason should go in ahead of Helguson for a couple of games now. Scored against Bristol, and Helg looked absolutely knackered at 60 minutes vs. Wolves.

The answer to your question is no. We do not need another target man. If Helguson get's injured, Rudy will step in but if Rudy also gets injured who says we need a target man striker who wins headers? Maynard has played upfront on his own before and can hack it. So can Mason and Velikonja too.

What's all the negativity about? THIS IS THE YEAR! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
