CCFC's international call ups

Tue Sep 04, 2012 3:51 am

Kim Bo-Kyung is on the move again – and this time he’s heading to Tashkent in Uzbekistan.

Only a week after flying in from Seoul to link up with new club Cardiff, Kim is on World Cup duty.

He is in Korea’s squad for their qualifier against Uzbekistan. That means a 6,500-mile, 14-hour round trip from the UK.

Kim, signed by the Bluebirds from Japanese club Cerezo Osaka for £2m, spent last week training with the squad and was an unused substitute for the 3-1 win against Wolves.

He is one of seven City players away for international matches.

David Marshall and Don Cowie (Scotland), Aron Gunnarsson (Iceland), Etien Velikonja (Slovenia) and Robert Earnshaw (Wales) are the other six, while Filip Kiss has linked up with the Slovakian Under-21 squad.

They have two home matches in their Uefa Championship group, against France on Friday and then Kazakhstan next Monday.

Cardiff City players in World Cup action:

Marshall and Cowie for Scotland v Serbia and Macedonia (both at Hampden Park, Glasgow).

Gunnarsson for Iceland v Norway home and Cyprus away.

Velikonja for Slovenia v Switzerland home and Norway away.

Earnshaw for Wales v Belgium (home) and Serbia (away).

Says something about our squad when out of all the call ups only Marshall started against wolves. Let's hope we can keep them all involved and happy as the season unfolds :ayatollah:

For some reason, I thought there would be more than that.

But it's good new its only those 6 as it will give Malky 2 weeks to work with the majority of the squad!

Scotland must have some amazing fullbacks to not have Kev in their squad!

kev has consistantly been overlooked for scotland. Shame really, would love for him to have gotten more caps.

Your distribution needs to be good during international games, and Kev isnt good at that. Only thing that lets him down

We are talking about Scotland not Brazil! I still find it hard to belive that there are better defensive full backs for Scotland than Kev to not even make the squad. He does deserve the chance.

International standard has not been the highest standard for a number of years now. England for example would struggle to beat the top 4 english clubs

Even Spain would find it difficult to beat the top 4 in the Premier League. England might avoid relegation! Wales could win the blue Square!
