Interesting idea but I think Whitts has just got his preferred role in the side back and he is going to be the key to everything else fitting together at the moment. Maybe giving him a few games off on the heavier pitches later in the season would be more prodyuctive for him so he could come back refreshed for the final push in the better weather of the spring.

i can see what merlin is saying... but id say put whitts in, the difference with the team now is that if they put 2 on whitts and try and take him out of the game, it will leave space for noone, or smith, or mutch etc.. they cant afford to man mark 1 player as we now have the quality to do damage in all areas of the pitch and not just have to rely on whitts...
