Yet again over 46,000 at Rangers today(v Elgin) for matches against teams smaller than Forest Green.
Really hope Rangers fans get what they deserve, promotion after promotion.

If we had to start again in League 2 or the Conference we'd be lucky to get 5000 for home games!

I doubt attendances would stay that high if they stayed in the lower leagues for more than just a few years.
You say its true loyalty, but if they spend the next 40 odd years outside the SPL, then I bet their attendances would be a hell of a lot lower.

If we are talking perspective, you cannot compare us with Glasgow teams.

I think if we were to end up in League 2 our attendances could still be around 8-10,000. Maybe 6,000 for the lower status fixtures
But that's nothing compared to Rangers fans, before today I'd never heard of Elgin City so for 40 odd thousand to turn up is incredible

Yeah they got what they deserve. That's why they are playing where they are..... f**k them and Celtic

I'll respectfully disagree, Rangers and Celtic are institutions and will always have a large following. I think the turmoil they are in has galvanised the support in a way that no amount of success could. I see them coming back stronger than ever.

A perspective in loyalty, our lets say, "newer fans" aren't exactly a loyal bunch, our attendances during the Carling cup run last year were woeful.

In reality, I agree with you. Because in all likelihood they will be back in the SPL before long.
But do you really honestly think they would still have 40k+ attendances after spending 40 years in lower leagues?

Personally, I do, it's bred into you up there, generations worth of fans following both them and Celtic.

Let's be honest though! There fans are probably loving it. More exciting than dominating the spl every season with only celtic challenging them. This season must be like the start of one big adventure for them. And plus we can't even compare with them in size or stature. When you have a club of that size with there history then you can call on fans from everywhere.

cant believe templeton joining them though, this i find shocking.

I find it hard to praise supporters for just supporting their team, regardless of what division they are in.
Impressive gates for a new club though.
mr'mogreenz, they have no history. Doesn't matter how they try and sell it and tart it up, it is not the same club.

Best fans in jockland are fans who follow the likes of Albion Rovers, Queens Park and Partick Thistle (and the Bankies) who live in shadow of the bigot brothers who win virtually everything. It is easy to follow teams that are successful and whilst not all Rangers and Celtic fans are glory hunters those who live in places like Stirling, Inverness and Edinburgh are plastics who are as bad as the scouse/manc s wales fans.
