I was chatting to Terry Phillips this morning and he told me he had checked with the football league and the midday rule for signing players to be eligible to play is for Saturday games only, so as long as Maynard signs by the 11pm deadline then he could feature on Sunday.

That should shut everyone up about that then. Good news.

Well Nigel Adkins just said the opposite about a player he is trying to sign?

Said he had missed the 12pm deadline for Sundays game but still hopeful it will done by 11pm transfer deadline.

Unless of course the FL rules are different to the PL rules?

Well subs were last season weren't they 7 in pl and 5 championship. But, aside from that I don't know. I'm sure that if it was the case that the deal had to be done by 12 then the signing would have been rushed through I'm guessing.

Yea I know what you mean, just the way the cookie crumbles I suppose. It's probably administrative and needs a day or whatever to get everything finalised. So obviously if you're playing saturday then 12pm is a realistic cut off point, Sunday games you got that extra time to do paperwork or whatever, as long as the deal is done in principal then it shouldn't be a problem

I think I'd only want Maynard on the bench on sunday anyway, as he hasn't been able to train with the team this week.
