HAS ANYONE EVER BOUGHT A SNOOPER

Thu Aug 30, 2012 7:36 pm

A speed camera detector that picks up handheld/mobile units as well ?

I am looking at buying this http://www.snooper.co.uk/snooper-3zero- ... ector.html

Just wondering if anyone got any knowledge on which one to buy.

And don't anyone tell me to slow down

back a few yrs ago i had a snooper s3 neo.. my father in law uses it now as he drives daily with work. worked well, particularly on the way to bridgend as it would go off before the corner where the bridge is and the buggers would be.

had a row off a cooper once for it being stuck to the dash, when i tucked it away, i couldnt hardly hear the dam thing. but it def kept me from getting any more points...

Good for picking up fixed cameras most of which are turned off these days, problem is the mobile vans and police cars with handheld speed guns - unless the site is in the snoopers database and gives you a warning (which is only based on location given by customers and there might be nothing there - e.g one of the motorway bridges where you see the vans sometimes) by the time the laser detector on the snooper picks up the light from the laser speed gun it's too late.

Only answer is to slow down..........

Cheers mate, it looks like a gift worth buying myself, seeing as I have just paid £85 to sit on a four hour course to avoid 3 points and understand the dangers of speeding.

And yes the copper was on that bridge by Bridgend, you know the one we all know about and we nearly always slow it down before we go around the bend

Depends how close to a ban you are!

Costs 2 and a hlf times a £60 speeding ticket - do you really speed that often? :o

Adam, the detector in my first post claims to pick up the gun from a mile and just advise of a hotspot :ayatollah:

Did look at the jammer/parking aide but like the idea of the snooper, don't know why though.

This review is from: Snooper 3ZERO GPS Radar/Laser Speed Trap Detector (Electronics)
its ok , no real instuctions with the device and it often warns of danger far to late, it buzzes when there is no danger, the revolution version is far better

Even the standard sat navs will give you notice of the fixed cameras and the usual spots for the mobile laser vans on bridges etc but they won't tell you about the sneaky person with the hand held on the hard shoulder or other unexpected spot which is why I would go for the other.

Use your SATNAV Carl. My Garmin always warns me of fixed/mobile camera locations. When i hear the bleep i slow down. No points for 9 years.....

Do 10 % above and you are fine so 77 or less is okay. Use the satnav for speed as well as car speedos are usually inaccurate.

The guidelines say 10% plus 3 mph but this is always at the discretion of the Police and Camera Safety Unit.

Remember The new speed guns can record a speed from 1km away.

Obviously the quicker you are travelling, the closer you will get to the camera before you get your warning. However, Snoopers are not illegal providing it is not in your line of vision. The radar jammers on the other hand most definitely are. I wouldn't buy one for use in USA though as apparently their cameras have a shorter range and therefore so do their snoopers. Worth bearing in mind.
