Are Samsung Mobile phones finished ?

Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:14 pm

Well probably a little dramatic but ere in the States Apple have won their case against Samsung over the copy rights of the the Iphone design features . Apple have taken no time in requesting for injunction to prevent any sales of 8 of the samsung phones in the states .
What impact will this have in the UK remains to be seen in the mobile wars but its sure to damage Samsung and increase the the costs of their phones over time . It will also have an impact on Android market and google for that matter.

Out of interest is anyone having issues with their S2 all of a sudden? My wife's phone is going a bit mental.

On the subject of Apple though, they've got a cheek. Their design so much resembles an old version of Linux X Windows. So it was okay for them to rob it in the first place was it?

Ironically, Samsung have just invested millions in their microchip plant in silicone valley, where they make chips for all the other phone companies including Apple. It's just all a game.

Mr Gates gave them some cash when they were struggling years ago, so there's a fair bit of incest abound in the IT family.

There's quite a list really. Something about it doing the bing-bong sound all the time, the battery thing flashing, turning itself on all by itself, turning itself off all by itself, a warning triangle with a temp guage symbol, sometimes can't connect on usb.

What problems are you having?

mine turns itself on and off a lot. Mostly the heat though, if i use it for a while it does get really hot.

This one is doing the hot thing even when it's not hot. It's only been happenning for about a week.

Mate don't get me started on iphones. If I started listing problems I get with those this thread would be longer (and dirtier) than the monkey face thread.

Spoke to Samsumg and they just advised doing a full reset. So far that has cleared up all the issues.
I reckon they sent out a dodgy update making it all go pair shaped. Back to normal now though.

Connect it to Samsung kies on a pc - via usb cable and do a software update. It takes 95% of issues away! Most people are running software versions on their galaxies which are over 1-2yrs old!

Let me know if it fixes ;)

Now that is interesting because this one here started playing up after we came home from Zante. I wonder if when it was turned on abroad it had a dodgy update to connect it to their service out there?

Anyway, since doing a factory reset and then updating to the latest software (which took a while) it is now better than it's ever been, but you do need to get used to the new software. It even runs cooler and faster.

I believe it's a risky move for Apple as Samsung are now fighting fire with fire.

Samsung are the largest distributor of smartphones in the world and as you know they use the Android operating system made by Google.

Next year the contract runs out with Apple for accessing Youtube from Apple devices and Google search engine and Google maps etc, expire a couple of years later.

By attacking Samsung in this way, I feel Apple are going to hurt themselves in the long run, as Google will pull the plug on allowing Apple devices to access any of their services.

It's already been confirmed that Apple devices will not be able to access Youtube from next year, in the same way that they cannot access flash content...

which is why people who have iPhones now should not update them because they will lose more services than what they'll get in value from the extras from Apple. :ayatollah:

You will still be able to use YouTube on the iPhone along with google but you will have to browse safari to gain access. The apps will be removed in ios6 apparently along with maps, which will be replaced with the same tek as skobbler.

Doubt they'll go away. S3 is the best phone around!
