I can see the reasoning behind Football / Non Footy sub-forums (and will look into it depending on what people want), but I don't know whether betting/competitions really needs it's own forum.

Say no to sub folders 

I don't think it's ever worked on a forum I've seen.  

It will be like the for sale section.  If anyone has anything interesting to sell they will end up using the main forum because people see it. 

The betting and competition section will end up the same.  People will miss "deadlines" for comps and end up posting to remind people in the main forum.... Mark my words

I disagree Luke, I think many people are interested in betting, whether it be football, horses or anything else, I believe once it is established I think people will look in the sub forum because they have a genuine interest in betting.

I think, if it is given the go-ahead I recommend naming it 'Gamblers Den'

People are certainly interested in betting, will they visit another part of the forum? Some yes, most? I have huge doubts.

If a sub folder is made I think it has to be made rule that no betting or competition posts are made in the main forum? And if are moved.

My prediction is that people will still end up posting betting and competition posts in the main forum with links to the betting forum (because it isnt getting viewed) which makes it pointless.

i think 1 sub forum will be ok but iv been on other forums where there is general chat,general football chat,general everything else and its messy, but i do not think 1 sub section for betting will effect the board, id love one

luke is right, back in the days where the official forum was worth going on, i voted to have a seperate section, but most people didnt bother to check it and then the football part was littered with links to threads in the other section etc.

How about we RENAME the celebrity chat sub forum then. To betting & competitions??

As others have said further up, chances are it will end up as a forum not many bother to check, and there will still be links/threads in the main forum.

It's a place to house our competition where the 30 or so members can go. And where we can discuss our betting and other competitions such as fantasy football.

We fully expect those who AREN'T interested not to visit, but those that are, will be there trust me.

Even if you aren't willing to name a sub forum (one that you can see hadn't been used since Dec. 2011 called celebrity interviews) to betting/competitions or as Carl suggested Gamblers Den, then you can at least re name it NON-FOOTBALL CHAT? or similar. At the end of the day the sub folder is already there and being unused so why can't you just give in to the majority and do us all a favour. Please.

Honestly, stop making sound so tough, I suggest we go with carl's suggestion for now and call it "Gamblers Den" - (I like that) and yes we moderate. it exactly that way - betting posts gambling posts competition posts all get moved there! We can put an announcement up on the main forum for a week that I'll gladly write up just to explain what has been created and how it will be moderated. Simple rules applied makes it easy for everyone!
As you may have seen, previous betting and comp threads on the main forum have always been popular and it'll mean I won't have to keep clogging up the main forum with all my betting gumph, which can only be a bonus.

Personally, I would like to keep the celebrity folder, as we have a few things up our sleeve , and just cause people don't post in there does not mean it is not read.

I don't want to add more work to Owain but if it is possible then I cannot see a problem with a betting section but it is not my board so really it does depend if Annis feels it is necessary for the members or not. I wouldn't be disgruntled if it didn't happen but feel it would be worthwhile.

As for comments stating that people will still place threads in the main chat, I would like to point out that there are some who still post items for sale in the main forum, not as much as there was but it does still happen periodically.

Also maybe we can ask all spammers to only post in the new section

I think thats the problem.
People post things for sale in the main forum because not enough people look in the for sale section. Which I'm turn makes that section pointless IMO.

Do people not understand that if the relevant posts were moved to sub forums that people WOULD have to look there!

If it's moderated properly it will work.

It's simple really, Annis likes his sticky section for posts he can throw in and out as he pleases. I'm more for keeping certain posts in sticks for a lot longer. Some things I post like this new betting comp. I would like to sticky to the top of a betting forum for the entire season! Annis will remove things that aren't being posted in which is fair enough for certain topics.

You can't just make a Non football forum because we will be removing almost every thread from the main forum!

Sorry I think going with Carl - a seperate betting sub forum is the way to go.
