Let's give Malky

Wed Aug 22, 2012 11:57 am

Malky has put together a quality squad, not finished yet, but on paper def a quality squad and stronger than last season.
We have beaten Huddersfield, drawn away to a very strong Brighton team, conceded no goals and showed were up for it.
I have seen and heard quite a few people moaning, yes of course we want more goals and 3pts every game, but we should give Malky time to get to find out his strengths in this squad and what formation is best, I honestly feel we have made a very positive start to the new season.

So come on let's give Malky time and our full backing.

Come on you Mighty Blurebirds and the Blues will get us 3pts at Bristol City on Saturday with nearly 2,000 Cardiff fans there. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I agree Annis, but I also think we are one or two signing away from a Championship winning side, Malky has had a great transfer window and fingers crossed he can grab his last couple of targets!

Excellent Post :ayatollah: Cant wait for Saturday, onwards and upwards!!!! :ayatollah:

i agree we going to Bristol saturday unbeaten, take 3 points from that which will give us 7 out of a possible 9 in our opening 3 games.(1 home 2 away)
i for one would have taken that before a ball was kicked this season, so give the team time to get it right on the pitch and support the boys

Put together the best squad with the biggest budget this club has ever seen and Dave Jones was hounded by you Annis when he was 2nd / 3rd for most of the season so by that logic Malky has to deliver. No excuses.

If hes not knocking around the play-offs all season I expect the Malaysians to give him the bullet.

Bang on the money!!!

There's not a manager or supporter in this league who wouldnt have settled for
4 points when they found out Brighton away was one of the first two games. Apart from ours.

Shocking really.

Mutch Helgusson Bellamy Velikonja all playing alongside Gunnarsson and
Whitts for only the second time.

How dare they not score four!!!

We're not firing on all cylinders yet, but sooner than seeing that as a positive sign
of things to come......... they all want to moan. Christ I'm glad POTENTIAL signings
dont read our messageboards

I totally agree. Still a bit of "tweaking" too do with the squad, a few players in & out, but were getting there.

Any news on the new players?

Well said Annis. I think that some people must realise that the Championship is won over 46 games, not 2!

4pts from 2 difficult games is a good return and automatic promotion form. This side will get better and better, with already signed players still to come into the squad, never mind other transfer targets.

Keep the faith and for a true reflection look at us in 10 games, when we have played nearly half of the teams in the division, a mixture of good, bad and ugly.

Sorry Annis, I respect your opinion but disagree, I am not complaining about our first 2 games but the way he plays not to lose. I gave him the benifit of the doubt last season due to the small squad but he has carried it through to this season and I predict that although we may not lose to many games we will draw a vast amount which will not end up in a promotion season. We must play at home with 2 up front, the lone striker will soon get frustrated and lose form.

agree annis but i want proof that malky does not have his favourites (on form or not ) eg conway best player through out all our pre season games ...and not good enough for a start in our first 2 games....mm as allways said he picks the team on what he sees on the pitch and in training hmmmmmmmmmm :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: totally agree about the quality in depth now (and the ages of our new signings is significant) im not sure what our best starting eleven is ....and my main concerns are with both our fullbacks i dont think there good enough to do the job malky exspects of them :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Well said Annis we have made a good start to the season and the point last night is definately a point gained in my opinion.

What really impressed me about the game last night was the comments by Gus Poyet after the game, he said for about 10 minutes in the first half he thought Brighton were sure to score and then about halfway through the second half he realised that our players were determined they were not going to lose the game. He knew then Brighton could do no more and was happy with the point Brighton got.

Being difficult to beat is a must for any side looking for promotion as it brings consistency and we all know over the season the most consistent teams get promoted.

We will get better as the new squad play more games together and I fancy, like Gus Poyet, most Championship managers will be glad to get their games against us over.

As fans that should tell us everything we need to know.

You have GOT to play not to lose. That has to be the foundation of any successful side.

QPR were boring as f**k for the first half of the season they went up. Desperately digging
out points and last minute equalisers. We reached the Play-offs last season with a team
lacking flair and firepower. We have flair in abundance now, with more to come in. Yes,
we do not have the balance right, and Malky is still tweaking with a system that isn't quite
paying dividends yet. Once we get into our stride we will blow teams away this season. But
Bellamy, Velikonja, Kim Bo, Helgusson, Whittingham, Mutch, Mason.... there are goals right
there and lots of them. Plus more firepower to arrive if Malky gets who he wants.

We have cover at the back now, and serious competition for places. That is a massive bonus
a tight defence is the way to get promoted. The goals WILL follow :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Rubbish Taffy.

You havent GOT to play that way at all.

Away from home of course you play not to lose first and then grow into the game but at home is a different kettle of fish. Aside from a handful of games (Bristol City & Reading in the league, Crystal Palace in the cup) Malkys philosophy at home is not acceptable if we have aspirations of automatic promotion.

Weve got to take the game by the scruff at home. Look at Southampton last year. Averaged between 3-4 goals at home last season.

Your giving Southampton to much credit there as they actually averaged only 2.13 goals at home last season. Still a good average no doubt about that but I agree with Taffy here in that it's better to build a promotion team around a solid defense and the ability to dog out results when you need to.

QPR proved that theory.

Well you've just defeated your own argument  We won our home game and drew the away game

Average 2 points a game and you get 92 points over the season. Are you really saying that even if we win we have to do so in style :? Of course that's the ideal but in reality it doesn't happen to too many teams in the Championship

We had great style for the majority of Dave Jones time here but ultimately that failed. Over the last few years West Ham, Newcastle, QPR, haved bored their fans all the way to the Premier. If that's what it takes then so be it. However, I do think that in 6 weeks time we may well be seeing a different brand of football once all the new signing have bedded in :ayatollah:

Re: Let's give Malky

It's been 2 games and we have posts saying 'We need to give Malky time' is this a joke? We haven't conceded meaning we haven't lost in the first 2 games.
Played good football last night and looked resilient away from home!

All I want to see is Conway in for Cowie

Cardiff fans can be the BEST and WORST at times! It makes me embarrassed, talk about Expectations f**k me.

I think we can all agree that anyone with actual sense isn't genuinely concerned right now. Annis, you're right, we are showing all the right signs. It's not perfection but it's doing the job and I am more than happy with 4 points from the first 2 games. :ayatollah:

Spoiled a good posting with that silly "come on the blues"....to the best of my knowledge City have never been referred to as the blues, unless you were thinking of Birmingham City..we know where you stand on the rebranding Forever Blue,we should do,you remind us every day,but please lets stop this child like attempt at propaganda

RUBBISH?

Home or away the first thing any team sets out to do is NOT concede.

Kevin Keegan had that "you score three, we'll score four mentality"....

I know what your thinking.... failed manager.

Man Utds great sides. Liverpools. Arsenals.... All built on rock solid defence
