Brighton fans thought that WE were the better team

Wed Aug 22, 2012 9:48 am

At least the ones I got chatting to thought so. They believed that we were the unlucky side not them, they also think that on last nights performance we will go straight up, so no doom and gloom other clubs fans believe in us :ayatollah:

Personally, I thought that we created enough good chances and when we click the goals will flow, there is quality all over the pitch.

And before our supporters bleat about the negative points on our stadium then following my first visit to the Amex, which is lorded as a brilliant stadium, then I'm sorry but I would much prefer what we have. The Amex is a lovely design, however it cost twice as much as ours is in the middle of nowhere, I would hate to have to put up with battling all sorts of transport issues every other week to watch my team. Nothing around the ground as an alternative to having a pre or post match pint. Great accoustics in there, however bar 10 minutes of singing from the Brighton fans, it was pretty dead, which goes to show its about the fans not the stadium their housed in.

On last night performance I believe we are in for some great games and wins this season.

Good to meet you last night.

Agree about transport issues. What a joke. The stadium is great but no parking for away fans is taking the mick.

We looked very good last night and the Brighton fans were more than happy with a point which tells you everything you need to know about the performance. With any luck/Kuczsak not on top form we would have won. We have the makings of a very good team and I have a positive feeling about this season.

As someone who was there I cant argue with the figures but Brighton's shots apart from 1 or 2 went into row z. We started the game well and dominated first 20 minutes. Brighton then had majority of play for 1st half. Whitts hit a superb freekick that was destined for top corner until their keeper pulled off a top class save. Helguson missed a sitter from a great Taylor cross as well.

In 2nd half there was a similar pattern with CCFC having a good 15-20 minute spell and then Brighton dominating for 20 minutes. The Albion keeper pulled off a great double save from Mason and Velikonja. Marshall pulled off 1 good save.

Brighton were a good team who kept the ball well. One thing that annoyed me was the way the Brighton players fell over everytime a CCFC player came within 10 yards of them. Like a team of Gomez/Bothroyds.

Can't believe that Wayne Bridge was named man of match. He did okay but their keeper deserved it in my opinion.

I, as a Brighton fan do not think you deserved it. I am happy with the draw though because it's good to get a point on the table. There were periods that you dominated the game but I think we probably dominated more of the game. We both had some shots that everybody in the ground thought was destined for the net. And as for someone saying we were diving, we didn't and your team weren't immune to it. The ref even had to walk the whole length of the pitch to tell Bellamy to get up and straight away after Bellamy had been told to get up he got up and made a run so that just shows how hurt he was.

From what I saw of your team I think you will do well this season.

Certainly couldn't complain if you had snatched the 3 points. In the end the result was fair.

Both teams lacking that lethal striker. Both teams have very good goalkeepers.

ref was good, kept the game flowing.

re. the stadium.

Anybody who knows anything about the last 15 years history of BHA will know that transport issues are minor in our magnificent campaign to get a top class stadium of which we are rightly proud. No financial millstone hanging around our neck as 99% of the cost met by our chairman out of his own pocket. Another £30 million earmarked from him for our new training complex to be completed next year.

Subsidised public transport to the Amex included in all match tickets (bus, train, coach) Very limited car parking due to council regulations.

Summary: On last nights showings, both teams can expect to be around the top eight towards the end of the season.

You have a good team but your players went down way too easily. Mackail-Smith is a good player but he spent half the game on his arse looking for free kicks along with 2 or 3 other Albion players. Bellers did go down looking for a free kick at 1 stage-he had been kicked in the stomach and whilst he was theatrical about it, it was a free kick.

How could it be a free kick? Bellamy went into the challenge on the floor with two feet up, he just happened to come out of it worse.

From where i was sat the brighton player kicked him in stomach. That is a freekick.

How was Bridge man of match? Your keeper was the best player followed by Mckail-smith

Perhaps we should agree to disagree on that.

And he didn't do anything wrong I suppose. But for me it would have either been Mackail-Smith, Bridcutt or Noone.

Hi Gareth,

Pleasure to meet you and the kids last nght, you were probably lucky enough to find that mini bus driver before I got there, as by the time I reached the area we were dropped off, the drivers were'nt allowed to park there  Eventually found him parked up on the road side, after much aimless walking around

As i said earlier, the Brighton fans on the bus back all agreed that they felt very satisfied with the point and thought overall their keeper was their best player. I thought that Bellars was out of soughts and maybe does need a game or two out. We were definately playing a more passing game than from last season, trying to build from the back. The ideas were all there, just the execution wasn't but that, I have no doubt will come. :ayatollah:

It was a farce in the carpark. The minibus was not where we were told it would be. We met him on the entrance road and he tried to turn into the car park but the jobsworth steward made him drive out and onto main road so he carried on to the pub. There were only 6 of us on it.

Hopefully next season we will be worrying about getting tickets to White Hart Lane and the Emirates rather than parking at the AMEX!

Hopefully catch up with you again this season.

That's why you weren't charged to park Steve  good job we never asked the steward where the away fans park coz he would have turfed us out
That Roller that VT was in was awesome and I pissed myself laughing when VT shit himself as you approached him :D
As far as the game was concerned I enjoyed it, either side could have won it in the end and was a very entertaining game.
Wayne Bridge man of match   whoever picked him must have been pissed, man of match IMO was their keeper.
Very nice ground by the way and as for Brighton, if they play like that the majority of the season they won't be too far away.

It was my first visit to the Amex, and I must say that I was very impressed. Travelled with the CCSC, so had no problems parking etc. Knowing what Brighton and Hove Albion FC, and the fans, have been through, it's great to see such a terriffic ground. 25,000 attendance speaks for itself. Thought the atmosphere was very good. Have been reading the programme today, and was interested to learn about the transport arrangements for their fans.

As for the game, well pleased with a point. We could have nicked it, but we were under a fair bit of pressure as well. A good game between two good sides. Fair result in my book.

Best of luck to the Seagulls for the rest of the season :ayatollah:

Fair assessment IMO!

I went last year as well as yesterday and we were better against them last night, than we were last season and it could definitely have gone either way!

I felt that we were the better team in the first half last night and they shaded the second half!

Thought it was a very entertaining 0-0 draw, felt Marshall played superbly again and anybody who thinks Turner lacks pace, ought to watch his performance on Cardiff City Player, when they make the whole 90 minutes available, as he outsprinted Mackail-Smith, one of their wingers in the second half and was my outfield MOTM for us!
