best place to park which is free on match day

the athletics stadium charge 6 pound. asda/cost co 1.30mins.
i heard on the jungle drums to ignore any parking fines they hand out as they carry no weight. surely this cant be the case. any sugestions please.
can you park on either side of hadfield road,etc

Plenty of side street parking off Leckwith Road mate

Insole or Tesco car parks if early enough but also please see the attached re: ignoring parking tickets issued privately in places like Asda
