It is, Malky needs to address this problem

We have quality we just need more depth.

That's true. Jack Hunt made Taylor look like a sunday league player. As it happened on Malky's side of the pitch, you'd think he'd notice.

Taylor just doesnt mark tight enough,he gives defenders too much room

You're absolutely right. A pair of quality full-backs and we'll walk this league. :ayatollah:

Malky isn't stupid but has got to address this problem. McNaughton as we all know cannot pass the ball forward to his own team mate,Taylor is getting out of position and we still need a centre back with pace.

Taylor is good enough, we just need back-up/competition for him. Likewise McNaughton.

I really don't think that McNaughton and Taylor are good enough to be our first choice full back's. As back up yes, but not first choice. I don't know what has happened to Super Kev, yes was never a good passer of the ball but he just seems like he has lost it, he was getting done like a kipper at times on Friday, especially in the 2nd Half. I have never rated Taylor as a full back anyway, he is more of a left sided midfielder or winger. If we were to sign two quality full backs with Kev & Taylor as back up, a pacey centre half and a goalscorer, I truly believe that we would walk this division.

Bloooooooooooooooooooooobirds.

I have always said that a team should be built from the back, and bloody good defense is like having really good foundations for a house. Build them strong and firm and they will stand the test of time. :ayatollah: :old:

I think that the problem is a little deeper than that.

Kev is a great full back but in the current system and playing behind Cowie doesn't bring out his best qualities for sure.

Likewise Taylor is decent enough but both full backs are often playing too far up the pitch because we lack genuine wingers. I think that with Bellamy and Cowie both cutting inside leaves too much responsibility on our full-backs.

I agree we need cover at these positions and even perhaps someone to replace Kev on the right but often it's what'sin front of them that is the problem. I was shocked how much of the ball Huddersfield had in their left wing position where Kev was constantly outnumbered because Cowie has disappeared 'inside' somewhere.

Darcy is a better player than the pair of them now..give him a sustained run at right back and let Kev and Taylor battle it out for left back. Feel they may have got complacent with the certainty that they will be starting week in-week out

Spot on with our needs - I'm gobsmacked we've already kicked off & Malky hasn't addressed it . It could cost us big time unless he gets his wallet out sharpish !

Mcnaughton had a good game yesterday, don't know what game you were watching, or did you watch the highlights? he saved us a few times from conceding a cricket score

Personally i don't blame the two full backs at all, due to us having no width they're having to play the roles of wing backs & are the only outlet we have on the flanks, they're bound to get caught out at some point when they both have to keep tracking so far up the pitch. Why are we still playing with no natural wingers? We've got a packed 5 man centre mid with no outlets on the flanks, Malky has had long enough to address this but still plays the same awful system. Personally i think the current style of football is awful to the eye & with MM in charge we will never go up.

It not just the fullbacks, we lack pace out wide & we need a quality striker...

For all the money that Malky has spent we are still weak at full back and we lack a prolific goal scorer like Maynard or Johnny Russell (Dundee Utd) and generally lack pace in attack. Looks like we have to go to January with what we've got! :ayatollah:
