How many times in the past have we had a game like that with big expectations and all set up for a big celebratory occasion and we have gone and lost.
Most people were so keen to hit the road running last night and had high expectations, and you could feel the tension in the stand so God knows how they felt on the pitch.
plenty of excuses, haven't played together, players away on duty all week etc.. just glad for three points and feel we can settle down now and push on.

A poor performance, by anyone's reckoning, yet we still got the 3 points. Happy days. Mind you, I think the Huddersfield fans can feel slightly aggrieved that they didn't come away with a point.
I predicted 1-1, due to certain factors, as you mentioned above, but we had a happy train journey home.

Sometimes it better scoring in the last minute than in the first and struggling to hold on for ninety minutes, don't know which one is worse for my nerves.

Give me the late one, any time. It sets everyone off in a good mood for the journey home.

Put immediate pressure on other teams to do something today, the first day proper of the new season, so it was a superb 3 points. We may well look back on this day in the months to come and think how important a win it was.

Yes it was a hard fought victory, however last season we beat West Ham first game and they still went up, we have a platfrom to build on and with the players getting to know each other and gelling, I believe we will have a really good season.

Gwyn Gwyn Gwyn
Your not looking at the wider picture. It wasn't just about the 90mins.The same old obvious failings of 2nd half of last season have not been addressed and that is why those who know their football are right to be a little concerned.
Hoofing the ball from the back, leaving a lone striker isolated, Whittingham wasted in front of back 4, putting square pegs in round holes ie blue eyes Cowie, we were woeful and didn't address it until 78th minute suggestion he was happy with how we were playing and Kevin Mcnaughton, well how the f**k wasn't he replaced in the summer I don't know
We won't get nowhere near the autos if Malky don't address the above

I get what your saying gwyn but it was dreadful and nothing seems to have changed since the back end of jan at all if we are going off fridays showing bar helguson for miller nothing else has been addressed at all its the same formation (unlike pre season) same hoofball, same dire fullbacks, same conjested midfield where there all in eachothers pockets within a 5meter radius in the center of the pitch, nothing out wide, hoofball over them all , no sencond balls getting picke up, nothings changed but atleast we got time this season to better it
