Whittingham's booking last night

Embarrassing. Any slide tackle where you cleanly take the ball is an automatic booking now it seems. Also, the ref last night didn't think you was allowed to jump and challenge for a header anymore. A number of times I saw Hudson jumping to head it and it wasn't his fault the man he was marking decided not to jump, meaning Hudson's momentum would inevitably make him lean over his man a little AFTER he jumped to cleanly head the ball away first before making any contact. Football has gone soft and is turning into a non contact sport!

The referee aside, we was very lucky to win last night. People may argue we had the majority of possession, but we didn't really do anything with it, I can't remember us making their keeper make a single save apart from McNaughton's two efforts. Marshall rightfully had man of the match and kept us in the game with 3 great saves. We gave them way too much space down the right, Taylor is always a worry for me defensively but in the second half I noticed their right back pushing up and overlapping and Bellamy wasn't tracking back, leaving Taylor exposed 2 on 1. Defensively, our left side needs to be resolved sharply, otherwise it will cost us.

Good post.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have a ref as bad as that one again this season. The name rang a bell, so he's obviously been useless before. The "assistant referee" on the Ninian Stand side was totally useless as well. We got the 3 points despite those two idiots, though.

Peter Whittingham is one of the cleanest players we have, in a very fair side who very rarely indulge in dirty play. Not warranted and shows the ref for what he was - incompetent. Ref's assessors take note, it's time for Mr East to retire, in my opinion.

I have two referees in my bad books. Mr East and Mr G Salisbury. Most refs are at a decent standard but those two seemed to actively go against us in the games we've played with them.

As far bad linesman I've just accepted that by this point. Not seen a good linesman in absolutely ages.

That challenge really p*ssed me off and hurt me. It really just made me realise of how weak this game is getting.
