Conway on the bench

Sat Aug 18, 2012 7:15 am

For them who watched pre seasons away games firstly we played 4-4-2 in them games and conway was MOM for me in three of them games when we played the stronger side in the 1st halfs before changes, the passing was good no shitty smash and hopes i found or atleast thought they might be gone, Now lastnight we was back to 4-5-1 only cowie who had played 45mions of football in pre season was out on the wing why i will never know :?: :?:

I know merlin thats what i didnt understand he was MOM for me in three of them games playing 4-4-2, lastnight we never done anything diffrent than the latter part of last season yet played 4-4-2 in every pre season game. Thats why i said we looked good with are stonger side in 1st halfs of every pre season game playing like we did, then this bizarre 4-5-1 smash and hope with 5 center midfielders all within spitting range of eachother come back from nowhere with hoofs past are millions of pounts in midfield again that got us falling down the league after jan last season. I mean helguson played ok but you if that carrys on he will be no diffrent to kenny miller as its the same style :ayatollah:

I hope when we go to Bristol we see Bellamy up front playing off Helgusson, and Kim Bo and Conway running the channels. That might allow our two best midfielders Whitts & Gunnarson to control the middle, pick out the passes and push forward for shooting opportunities.

But who the f**k am I? I'm not Malky....

Merlin honest a god i really can not see anything changing it didnt work the last half of last season, game after game anybody could see it wasnt working and lastnight we was super lucky to get anything let alone three points, ok we won but what if we had lost 3-0 nobody could say much then as it was dire at times, i dont expect MM to change anything. Only in pre-season but now we seem to be back to the old ways :ayatollah:

100% totally agree with you Tugger, I went to every pre-season game and I couldn't for the life of me understand why Conway didn't play last night, I was saying to the guy next to me all game that Malky should bring Conway on for Cowie as he still didn't look 100% fit, the game was screaming out for him. Also I think he should have given Velikonja a run out with 20 minutes to go but hey I'm not the manager :D
A very hard valuable 3 points though, hopefully Malky will address what he did wrong (IMO) and put a team out and formation that will suit our players.
Onwards and upwards.

I would be seriously pissed off if I was Conway. I'm not his biggest fan but he has looked excellent in pre-season and lets face it, we were crying out for some pace and decent delivery last night.

Agreed steve but anyone with half a brain knows bellers, kimbo will need to ball to feet and they should be hugging the touchline as thats what they do best i just couldnt get my head around like last season so many times why the hell we seem to have five players in center midfiled all within spitting range of eachother at times. I mean ffs look how much ball there leftback/right/back had lastnight because there was no pressure on them off are midfield as there all wanking eachother off in the middle of the pitch. Why play wide players who would normally be out wide if there playing a center midfield role :ayatollah:

Maybe it's a stunt to trick
Managers into thinking this is how we're going to play from now.

Again i agree, i would have liked to have seen him he looks lean and up for it in pre season but tbh the same style football wouldnt have made much diffrence we never played anything out wide because there was nobody there as they was all in the middle due to MM style of play i guess and when we tryed to get the ball out there it was hoofs from turners size 12 ganhi's flipflops only for it to go in to row Z or to the player 10yards in front of him because hes got a touch like ted bundy :ayatollah:

Turner was very poor last night and his crossfield ball is so predicatble. Sort it out Malky.

The same happened last season. Conway had 3/4 great games on the trot scoring goals and then he was dropped for the rest of the season. Puzzling decisions last night. I was surprised that he did not start due to his excellent pre season form. Should have played instead of Cowie. Then he wasn't even brought on.

I cannot see the point of making changes when there is only 10/11/12 minutes of a match left. Too little too late. MM was doing the same last year.

I agree but we could say the same about last season with formations when he played, we played three games 4-4-2 away one after the other got 7points then at home for the next two games conway got dropped so we played 4-5-1 and got nothing out fo them games, its bizarre what goes on. cowie is never a winger never has been hes always played in the center no matter where hes been. Its like we play five central midfielders every game when we play 4-5-1 but why play it if we are missing them with 90% of passes for the new millar aka helguson to head on to nobody or not even reach him with passes, im not blaming helguson but f**k me whats the point of it if theres no runners outwide to get on to flick ons or the five that are sat in the middle all within eachothers pockets not picking up any second balls :ayatollah:

Conway best performer by far in pre season. Improved so much. End of.

Re: Conway on the bench

I was really hoped we would bring him on too, I remember last season when things were not going too well for us Malky would bring him on and most of the times things picked up right away. We really needed him on last night to make them runs he made, with Conway and Mason up front we would have more movement and they would have really put there defenders under pressure.

Conway looked shit hot in pre season he would of causes some problems for huddersfield and created us more chances.
I don't get why cowie is being used still on the wing hes a good worker but lacks speed with the ball dribbling and trickery for a winger and this showed Friday he done nothing going forward for us

conway has in my opinion done enough pre season to warrant a starting place, what more can the guy do.. he should start ahead of cowie this week i believe, but im betting he wont and away from home we will see the same 4-5-1 that started against huddersfield...

Yep tuesday nothing will change to anything we seen set up wise or the formation. I will put a wedge on it unless somebody gets injured by then :ayatollah:

Wasnt there friday, but maybe we need to chant for Conway like we did for Burke a few seasons ago when he was on the bench. :ayatollah:

If that was done then forget this comment
