I don't post very often on here, I usually just login and read people's comments, but I've just got home from the game and have seen some comments which really frustrate me.
There is so much negativity after a win, it beggars belief.
Ok, it wasn't the best match we've ever witnessed, but come on, Huddersfield werent going to simply roll over were they ? Have we got short memories ? They went something like 50-odd games unbeaten over the last year or so, so they are a tough side to break down. They came to do a job on us and, in my opinion, they did that very well, keeping our two most influential players out of the game for long periods. How quiet were Bellamy and Whittingham ? That is down to their pre-match planning and tactics.
Surely people can see that by them double-marking Bellamy, pressurising Whittingham as soon as he got the ball from
the centre halves and dropping the rest of the players behind the ball, man-marking ours, space in midfield is severely cluttered, if not non-existent, leaving little option but for " the dreaded long ball" from Hudson and Turner, as people keep calling it ! That is not a tactic, that is simply all you can do in that situation, like it or not.
Of course, the other side of the argument is to change formation, reduce the clutter in midfield and go 4-4-2, and I agree with that at times, but hey, it's the first game of the season and we won 1-0, kept a clean sheet (thanks to Marshall) - last year we would have drawn that, and we did that 18 times !!!
We should be a lot happier than we are folks !!!
