GOOD LUCK BLUEBIRDS

Fri Aug 17, 2012 8:28 am

I expect to be confronted by a sea of blue on my TV tonight. First game of the season for me is always the best, most anticipated and without doubt the most nerve-wracking (except for the last one of last season! ). Looking at this years Championship I will say that I really cannot pick out a winner, the three relegated sides will certainly more than feature, Leicester will be hard to beat but will bore the bollox off everyone with Pearson in charge, Holloway will have Blackpool up for it and Boro will certainly be there or there abouts. And you cannot discount our old gaffer Warnock with Leeds. Dark horses for me could be Forest, got a few good players in and a decent football-friendly manager. Sheffield Wednesday look like they have a few quid to spend, but have a right miserable shite as a manager and Huddersfield will be hard to beat with Grayson in Charge. Birmingham have bought well and Lee Clarke wants his team to play football. But I do think that if a certain team steers clear of injuries, as the squad still looks a bit thin, has a bit of luck along the way and with probably the bet manager in the league I really do think that this year could at last see those perennial bottlers Cardiff City do it.

As for us, well we have just signed Jose Bosingwa from the filth and duped Marsaille into taking the footballing thug in return for what seems to be a decent footballing centre half. And we have the little matter of those overblown footballing snobs (or the footballing equivalent of Harold Steptoe - likes to think that he can mix with the upper classes but each night still has to come home to a shithole). Yep Swanselona are in town, so hopefully you can hang some welcome back messages for them as they return back along the M4! Anyway good luck for the season.

Cheers DWQPR, yeah you,re right about the bottlers that we are, but be fair, we are quite good at it. The championship will be as usual, very difficult this season, plenty of good sides will be challenging at the top but we do have a bigger and stronger squad this with a few more signings to come. I see you,ve been very active in the transfer market this summer, you,ve made some very good signings and as a bonus you,ve got rid of the hooligan, mid table for you i tkink this season, so good luck starting tomorrow against the gypos, it will probably go the usual way, they will give you a football lesson and you will take the three points. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Looking forward to tomorrow, I don't know what it is about football but the start of the season always seems to turn long in the tooth, middle-aged men into kids waiting for Christmas! We have made some great signings and I think that for the first time in my life I could pick a first eleven. Hughes has added a hell of a lot of depth to the squad now and the likes of Campbell and Bothroyd have been omitted from the list of squad numbers, yet they were our trophy signings this time last year!

I shall be cheering on QPR tomorrow. My middle sons mate is a QPR fan and will be at Loftus Rd. I've already warned him about dodgy west walians wearing shell suits.

No mention of Wolves, even after selling jarvis and Fletcher I still think they'll be regular top 5 squatters.

Cheers DWQPR :ayatollah:

Merlin, how are you? Trust you have got your blue shirt for tonight? Read my assessment again, didn't mention Wolves by name, nor Bolton and Blackburn but I did say the three relegated clubs would be there!

Cheers, DW. I love the Championship, due to the fact that there are always plenty of teams competing for promotion, so I've never found it dull, since we robbed you of a place there in 2003.

I'm still concerned our defence isn't strong enough, but we'll have to wait and see if that matters. Let's face it, if we keep a lot of possession with the quality midfield and strikers we have, the opposition won't get near us too often.

I don't rate Mark Hughes as a manager, but I'm hoping he proves me wrong. He is one of my favourite players of all time and I don't want to see a great Welsh sportsman fail.

Good luck tomorrow and for this season.
