CARDIFF V HUDDERSFIELD - NEWS

Fri Aug 17, 2012 6:50 am

TEAM NEWS
Cardiff welcome back Kevin McNaughton, Mark Hudson, Ben Turner and Andrew Taylor for the visit of Huddersfield after the quartet missed the League Cup loss to Northampton through injury.
Midfielder Stephen McPhail should also be fit despite being withdrawn early on Tuesday with a tight hamstring.
Huddersfield winger Danny Ward is a doubt with an ankle knock he picked up during the League Cup loss to Preston.
Terriers boss Simon Grayson has an otherwise fit squad to choose from.
This includes Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes, who scored his first senior goal for his country in their 3-1 win over Australia on Wednesday, and new signings Sean Scannell, Paul Dixon, Oliver Norwood, Keith Southern, Adam Clayton, Joel Lynch and Anthony Gerrard.
Cardiff's summer signing Kim Bo-Kyung is still unavailable as he arranges a work permit. The South Korean winger is expected to be available to make his debut next weekend.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
• This is the 66th meeting of these clubs over 91 years. Huddersfield lead by 29 wins to 18.
• Their most recent meeting was in the second round of the League Cup in August 2011, when Cardiff won 5-3, having been taken to extra time.
• Huddersfield won the last league clash 1-0 in January 2003 in West Yorkshire. The Bluebirds had prevailed 4-0 a month earlier on their own ground.
Cardiff City

• Draw specialists in the Championship last season with 18 stalemates.
Huddersfield Town
• The League One play-off winners are preparing to play their first match at this level in 12 seasons.
• Aiming to avoid defeat in an opening league fixture for the sixth season running.
• The Terriers scored nine more league goals on the road, than at the Galpharm last term.

Nothing about Bellamy

I know he will start but a mention. Would have been good as he is the best player on the pitch

Betting News

7 of the top 10 of the favourites to score first are Cardiff players. You can get 5/6 on a Cardiff win and around 4/1 on a Huddersfeild win. I would go for 4.1 Cardiff which should pay around 33/1.

Cmon City 3 points today surely! :D

THey had a good side last year and have made some excellent signings

This isnt going to be easy --

Im expecting a 1.1 draw -Whitts scoring first, Bellamy coming on for last 20 minutes , Rhodes equalising and Gerrard playig well.

Had not thought of it like that.I thought Bellamy would have the first hour of the game and then seeing how he is maybe replacing him then.I must say though I though he looked in better nick playing for team GB than he was when he was on loan last time.

Surely this is a grudge match after losing the 1st division championship to them by .24 of goal difference the other year, and in good old City style we missed a penalty that could have won us the as it is now premiership :D :D :D :D :D

What a poor first half,

the team looks nervous and edgy.

Playing long balls to Bellamy and switching off at the back.

Not good
