McPhail your time is up

Thu Aug 16, 2012 8:02 pm

mc phail doesnt score, does nt look like scoring.not only cant he tackle, you don t want him to tackle ,giving away needless free kicks ,play off final being a good example.he s our play maker and the ball goes sideways and backwards endlessly.so left footed its embarrassing, the only time ive seen him use his right foot is when he kicked the ball away against the jacks to get sent off.apart from that he s a good player
malky has no worries about mcphail, but i do

I agree 100% Woody CCFC, McPhail is probably the most overrated player at the city since Miguel Comminges. In fact old Miguel would have made an excellent holding midfielder, shame I was the only one who noticed it, missed the boat there, Southend have a right gem on their hands.

Anyway, back to 'Macca' league 2 player at best, I can pass backwards and sideways and tuck my shirt in, where's my professional contract eh Malky? Yes Malky Mackay I'm talking to you.

Ridiculous situation.

Agree with you both. He has obviously (quite rightly) got a lot of sympathy due to his health issues, but he simply isn't a Championship standard player.

He is so overrated and for god knows how many seasons now he has been injured and recovered just in time to f**k up our end of season push for promotion.

Please MM don't do it to us again, offer the lad a coaching role and get him f**king well out of the way,

It's strange as two or three years ago Mcphail was slated and regularly called Mcfail. He was also regarded as one of DJ's undroppables and disliked for this reason. Even when he was his best I didn't think he was that good.

However now he (rightly) has sympathy. But, I think it cloud's some people's thoughts. He isn't good enough for a team pushing for the Premiership.

Commingues left Southend at least a season ago and was last seen holding the midfield together for Colorado Rapids in the MLS :? I think he has since gone on to the great heights of retirement or the Guadaloupe Premier League.

how dare you diss our Stevie. :nono:

did you not know he has a "cultured" left foot?

You must be completely mad!

Where the Hell is Malky going to find someone who can pirouette a better 360 degree turn and have the panache and flare to slow down every attacking move all at the same time?

Now there's a challenge for you.

being serious for a second, I do think Steve should be released.

Nothing to do with his illness or lack of appearances.

I personally believe City at the moment have better players ahead of him.
Yes he can calm things down and control the tempo of the play. But that's only when he's given the freedom to do so by the opposition.
When teams harass him and get in his face, his game falls apart. He's not a great tackler and his work rate (or engine) is not as good as many of the other huge selection of midfielders we currently have. He will therefore I my view will find himself struggling to even make the bench.

I don't believe that's how he wants to end his career.

Finally, the aggressive fast flowing counter attacking style which is so very important with Mason, Bellamy, Kim, Eti, Whitts etc, does not suit his game at all. We have better players in the squad now who can do what Steve does best. Put a foot on the ball and distribute. I think Whitts, Gunnarsson and Mutch can all do this.

I truly hope Steve gets offered a coaching role within the Club.
That said, I wish they'd offer Kav a similar role too.

He's good to have on the bench and calm things down if we're all over the place, but I think he's too old to hold his own place in the team. Don't agree with you that he's over rated and is League 2 at best, would easily walk into a few teams in this league :ayatollah:
