Malky Searching For New Cardiff City Stars!

MALKY Mackay remains keen to add two or more players to his Cardiff City squad before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.

The Bluebirds manager wants a defender to give his team more depth at the back, while he is also in the market for an extra striker to increase competition in attack.

“We still need to bring in a couple more players before the transfer deadline,” said Mackay (pictured), who has already added six new players to his squad.

The latest of those is Craig Bellamy, who is in line to play his first match in tomorrow’s Championship match at home to Huddersfield Town.

City have been linked with a number of players, but manager Mackay says: “After signing Craig we are going to be linked with every player in the world.

“But there will be no knee-jerk reactions as we bring players in. All of those we are looking at are players we have been watching for some time and have built dossiers on.”

City have been linked with Tommy Smith at Queens Park Rangers and West Ham striker Nicky Maynard, although the club has not confirmed either, or anybody else, as targets.

Maynard, 25, has had a frustrating time with the Hammers since joining them in a £2m move from Bristol City. Leeds United are keen on the striker, who has two seasons left on his contract.

West Ham are asking a £2m fee for a player believed to be on £25,000-a-week at Upton Park.

The arrival of Bellamy last week was the latest success for Mackay, who has also brought in goalkeeper Joe Lewis, Jordon Mutch, Heidar Helguson, Kim Bo-kyung and Etien Velikonja.

He has spent £5m in transfer fees – £2m each for Mutch and Kim plus £1m for Velikonja – and recouped £350,000 from the sale of Anthony Gerrard to Huddersfield. There is still money available in his transfer kitty, provided by Malaysian owners Vincent Tan and chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee.

The transfer window closes on August 31, and if City haven’t brought in the players they want by then an emergency loan window opens a week into September. Mackay will still be scouring the Premier League in particular for potential signings at that stage.

I heard we got 500k as well, can't remember where to though. I think it was bullshit though as the club seemed more than happy to get him off the wage bill, if they did get that sort of fee then that was brilliant business by the club.

No guys miller went on a free transfer but we save well over 500.000 in the cost of his wages McKay was clever getting him off our books

We didn't receive a fee for Miller as Vancouver were the only ones willing to pay all of his wages
